The whole house was sick of all these remotes on the coffee table, looking always who does what and how, often short unnecessary spats, but it's often like that :(.
We have standard equipment, HD TV, Channel decoder, plus the Home Cinema 5.1 and the Freebox. No surprise, but I think the most painful of all is the volume control, to never know which remote control to use!
So, in search of a universal remote control, not too expensive and quite easy to use I find this "Logitech Harmony 300i".
(Important: includes having an internet connection!)
As a computer scientist, I know this brand of intermediate range and then reading the descriptions I find it fits up to 4 devices ideal for me. A great rate, I decided to acquire it quickly.
Once received remote control, I see quite a product with a good hand-held and sufficient key to operate all my devices. The time to read the instructions, to implement, to seek references of products and here I am on my PC to program the remote. Just one cable to plug usb, fast software installation, requires a username and password, then the remote is recognized online in minutes.
The reception is soft and playful, very understandable, well useful and practical aids. No complaints.
For starters, the interface asks the references of your products, to associate the programmable buttons on the remote control, I have a little look to CanalSat, just had to score "Canal +", it had to think about it!
Then you can associate yourself the keys to the desired functions (eg for the decoder, I associated the "return" key not configure a location that seemed most logical to me). When finished, do synchronization (do not worry it is very well explained), then do a test on your equipment.
The top for me is the "Watch TV" (the top left), one press of the button around three seconds and all your equipment light at the same time, like to turn off, one button for 4, that is not the top that?
Top notch, I associated the key volume + / - on my home theater, thus whatever hardware used, it is always the volume of home theater is soliciter over galley.
Positives:
- Good support in case of problems, send your request, response in the day.
- As your remote is connected to the PC via the Internet, the Logitech support can make the settings directly from a distance.
- Only one button to turn on / off
- Only one function to the volume :)
- Configurable keys to his liking.
- 2 AA batteries instead of 10 AAA batteries, his account too.
The Bad:
- On this bass model, we do not have all the features (eg When I turn I want the TV using the HDMI 2 port)
- About this big remote control, I think for the keypad (to live in chains) is too low, poor grip, but not annoying.
Overall satisfaction "very positive" product, I'll think to pass to the model, but to zap that's fine too :). Hoping to have been clear enough for your décision.Cdt.
