Test and environment
After unpacking the electronic helpers was (up charger and plug it in, Robi out questions and about 4 hours to charge) set up quickly. Then I let Robi same time zipping through my 80m² large and rambling apartment. The apartment has only smooth floors (tiles and parquet) and 2 carpets. Relatively unmotivated and without any recognizable goal while he drove through the apartment. He drove from time to time the wall edges and in between again - in a zig zag course - from the bottom surfaces. After an hour he parked automatically and unerringly into the charging station.
Report
In operation, the device is quite noisy, whether in standard or silent mode (the difference is marginal). The controls are apparently purely limited to the pressure sensor, so he drives up to an obstacle and along it (eg wall) or he turns around and looks back to the soil surface until the next resistance. Despite this chaotic system was and he went through all the rooms. He left here and there once points out, however, believed less than expected or. However, when one uses the machine every day, of course, also increases the surface coverage. Can even be set via the included remote control, that Robi losstartet daily at the same time.
What he does not like - because it he catches even almost certainly - are cables. Although he tried with a little back and forth to break free, but until suddenly - where he could actually free himself - he always remained hanging and had to manually - say by me - be exempted. Here I can only give 2 ADVICE either be at home when he departs rooms with ground cables to be able to liberate when needed (rather tedious, especially when located under a bed or piece of furniture caught) or the cables during this period remove or . somewhere about hanging etc. One can of course also the rooms - where there are exposed wires - closed, so that it can not approach these (best door to, but is of course also supplied with the photocell).
Carpets are a bit tricky, because my narrow fabric carpet he could reach and clean without any problems, but he could not climb my deep-pile carpet. At least he is not stuck to the carpet, but - as with any resistance - he sucked just around or made easy returns.
After an hour then it was over with suck, because the battery was empty. Suddenly the two LEDs started blinking wildly, and as if by magic Robi went unerringly to its home port a. In some reviews was to read that he when entering its own charging station continuously moves or travels around ?! A little tip, the station has therefore set up on the bottom 4 rubber knobs, only on smooth surfaces! Yet more easy to provide the charging station on a wall! ;-)
Emptying the dirt container and cleaning the filter are unproblematic. The tank was filled by 2 complete cleaning trips.
Conclusion:
Of course the DD Navigator is not perfect and has its quirks, but you can go wrong with this low price nothing. It sucks and brushes, and not too bad. The usual corner and edge Dust Lurch definitely has no chance! :-)
