At least 80 GB IDE hangs my Ultra ATA Western Digital hard drive straight to a USB 2.0 port of my Medion Akoya MD 8833, Aldi, and write / read from disk to disk works with about 15 megabytes per second, or around 120 Mbit / s. An acceptable value in this case limited by the older plate (2006), the adapter also provides more than 20 Mbyte / s without complaint, as the test with the new 500GB IDE drive from Seagate shows.
However, neither corresponds to the packaging (in my white-gray) or the adapter (such as only one indicator lamp instead of two) the pictures here on Amazon. The listed manufacturers "Santech" seems more likely to be a synonym for "Something from China", anyway, is nowhere in the delivery at all a manufacturer name to discover.
The most important consequence: the reviews of this product (and probably also other no-name products) should be treated with great caution, as can also be seen on closer perusal: when one whistles the power supply, the other, the adapter does not detect a single plate, the other everything works perfectly - no wonder, as probably all had here an adapter from another manufacturer from China.
The customers of the images offered here at Amazon (funktiongsgleichen) adapter from the manufacturer "2direct" see because even very similar to my model of "SANTECH" ...
That in another no-name adapter with a similar function here on Amazon the DVD burner is equal then braised, therefore no surprise. My measurements at the mains part of my ADAPTERS (manufacturer I can not even name them correctly) were in any case very ordinary scatterings: 5.77 V where allowed 5,00, 11,90 12,00 V where V is required.
That still does not drive seriously hurt, but when lack of quality assurance is even a greater breakaway while the board denied the service at best - but can sometimes cost the head of the plate. I recommend everyone to try first with an affordable device (eg DVD-ROM drive) (inaccurate method - the instrument can indeed be more tolerant than the actual disk) or with a voltmeter remeasure (exact method) before the plate with the valuable Data is drangehängt.
The important thing is still the order so that everything works well:
Check 1) jumper plug on master Setting
2) IDE cable to hard drive
3) power cable to hard drive (nor does not start)
4) USB cable (if available two: both) to PC / laptop (now the disk should start)
Often two USB connectors are available - you should then also both plug, because that the current from two USB ports is drawn, and the adapter works reliably. Actually a sign poor power designs, but an additional USB connector seems just yet to be cheaper than good engineering feat ...
So, good luck!
