Use with PC:
------------------------
Concern passing on the first try file copy of a disc inserted in the Here-Box to an internal drive: stop copying in progress, after 35 GB are copied. The inserted disc in the Icy Box no longer appear in Windows.
After replacing the USB3 comes with the dock cable with a USB2 cable, the fault has disappeared, but obviously with a much lower rate.
Everything is back to normal after the purchase of a new cable USB3. In addition to its malfunction, the original cable was all too short ways for me.
While it is interesting to insert two discs in both the Icy-Box, it is a shame not to be able to separately remove one or the other (peripheral withdrawal in the notification area), the Icy -Box appearing as a single device.
I read here and there that Icy-Box using a proprietary format. I did not notice anything of such a new disc inserted in the docking station can easily be formatted to NTFS from Windows. I even got to format a disk 3 TB NTFS with one GPT partition. Finally, a disc inserted into the Icy Box and formatted in Windows was recognized without problems my multimedia hard drive.
Regarding debits USB3, I found values similar to those obtained with my previous system, I guess in both cases are the discs that set the limit.
Use as a cloning station without PC:
-------------------------------------------------- -
On the very brief paper manual, the French procedure has at least one error which would confuse the user (fixed LED is blinking in English in French ...).
Accustomed to using cloning software, I find quite confusing to clone "blind" without specific information on the progress of the operation or on potential problems. In light of a first test, I still prefer to clone via software, which is entirely possible with the Icy Box.
On the other hand, the clone operation being terminated if the station is reconnected to the PC while the two discs in place, only one of two (the source drive) is visible in Windows. The disk manager can see both but does not affect drive letter to the target disk. Inserted individually against each disc is easily accessible. Perhaps, both drives are clones, Windows he refuses to display both simulatnément.
In conclusion:
---------------
Despite the drawbacks mentioned minors (USB cable short and defective, no individual withdrawal records and cloning "blind"), I have reached the goal. I am generally satisfied with this dock Icy Box.
