Sybella get from St. Mortains monastery ordered to return to the bosom of the family. That of all the telltale Dalbret is her father, making their job any easier. She wants nothing more to than finally allowed to kill him, but it just will not appear time and yet it is not so far as to turn away from Mortain. The next order, the beast, de Waroch to free from prison and bring to Rennes, is both a blessing and a curse. Although she escapes dAlbrets claws, but she has her main goal can not be reached. But faster than you would like, de Waroch is more than one order, but Sybella knows that he can never forgive her all her deeds
The protagonist:
Sybella is truly sorry infested creatures. As a Dalbret she is accustomed misery and cruelty of childhood. Her father makes no distinction between friend, enemy and family who stands in his way, to die. Your greatest joy it has been to learn that Mortain is her biological father, but also this faith is shaken in all these years. In desperation, they even commit suicide, but the death of her father, she rejects. So she has the choice to believe that her father does not want to or that he does not exist. From bad to worse, seems to be their motto in life
Own opinion:
Dark Triumph The daughter of the traitor of Robin LaFevers can hardly be compared with its predecessor.
The entry was certainly not easy for me. This time the story is told from the first-person perspective of Sybella and links up seamlessly with its predecessor. Strictly speaking, begins the second part of His Fair Assassin Trilogy with one of the final scenes of Grave Mercy. So I was curious on the opaque Sybella, so much I was missing but the merciful Ismae that was so much gentler and more accessible. The komlexe hierarchy, the setting in the 15th century and the countless names that made it any easier for the reader.
Yet it is precisely these difficult characters are a masterpiece. Rarely so complex and authentic figures on the way are my running. Far from it, even to use only the hint of a cliché, LaFevers creates personalities who are not only interesting, but also morally valuable.
The story is as unique as its predecessor. Furthermore, it accompanies the young Duchess to their struggle for freedom, so it (because typically what ?!) love story is not just about a typical historical-fantastic. It might have been more skilful, the reader Sybellas past withhold not too long, because they would then have more mitgefiebert also the first third with her, but it was the end of course the major wow factor.
The love story is just great. Contrary to the standard one has time to do it with an ugly man, at least that is so over and over again mentioned. A man who is beautiful from the outside ugly, but from the inside. The budding relationship of the beast and Sybellas divided inconspicuously into the action a, so that it is completely unobtrusive. However, the two also have far greater worries than to rave incessantly for each other or to argue for meaningless things.
Conclusion:
Robin LaFevers Dar triumph The daughter of the traitor makes it perhaps the reader at the beginning of difficult, but can convince the whole perfectly. The mood is much darker than its predecessor and there are some scenes where you have doubts about a youth released from 12 years but strong. Extremely successful characters in combination with a unique and interesting story make this book. By grandiose characters and the slightly different love story of this band is even a bit better than the first, and of course again a clear recommendation - 5/5 books!
