1) Information
The Hewlett Packard HP Photosmart 7520 is a multifunction device, this means that you can print, copy and scan. In addition, the HP has a fax function, an Internet function and an automatic document feeder.

2.) Buying
Exactly why this device?
There are not just a little selection at Amazon, you have to say. I also had very many printers as devices from Brother, Epson, Canon and HP were there. The only manufacturer that disappointed me beyond measure, was Epson. I had 3 devices from HP and they were all satisfactory.
I had certain functions just very important. I wanted a large touch screen, good quality and the Internet function.
HP offers for this price a wide range of functions, therefore the handle to HP.
I bought this printer, right here, at Amazon.
The delivery proceeded without problems, so that the printer was delivered within 4 days that fits quite well.

3.) unpacking, packing & delivery
The printer was in an HP box, which was outside again protected by a Amazon- carton. The box was huge, but the packaging neatly and securely. The printer has survived the delivery problem.
All doors and lids were protected- with tape were everywhere you can imagine the attached. But so can open anything during the delivery. The display was protected by a foil. I am aware of the packaging very satisfied.

4.) workmanship
I've read through a lot of reviews about this device and have very often noticed as poorly rated workmanship. I have checked my device thoroughly and can confirm these statements about miserable processing only partially. Some printers just pull Papierladen are rather unstable and rickety. HP relies on a non-removable drawer. To reload paper, you just have to lift the lid with the photo paper or take it off. Then you can easily reload paper. I see no weaknesses.
Spotless but the build quality is not, because the large display sits on a holder with very sharp edges. Particularly under the "HP Photosmart 7520" - lettering are felt sharp edges. But usually it does not come into contact with the edges.
So much for the external appearance of the printer.
Out of interest, I have compared the appearance of the printing of my second printer (Brother MFC J4510 DW) with the printing from HP. I've looked at the print head, rollers and wheels. I must say that the entire printing unit Brother machine is much better processed than that in HP. In HP one finds small metal rollers with gradations. The are so warped and used wrong, that they are "eggs" strong during the printing process. The Brother is also processed extremely complex. HP is more concerned with a tidy and simple printing.
The build quality is mixed and that's why I give here only one: Satisfactory

5.) Initial switch & Configure
Connect the printer to the network and press the ON button. The printer initializes and starts up. Language, time zone, time, and other settings have to be processed. The menus are very simple, you find yourself anywhere easy to navigate. You still need help, you can call assistance from the Help button on the edge of the touchscreen.
Now the cartridges are to be used. Simply the appliance lid open and unpack the cartridge. For this purpose it is necessary to remove the film of the cartridge, and remove the somewhat difficult to remove damper. Then added the wrong cartridge into the printhead until it snaps. Works pretty simple.
Then the unit initialized the cartridges and spat a test page.

6.) Operation
This device can be really properly operate. Although the touchscreen only responds to proper pressure, but works quite reliably and even recognizes swiping movements. Cute animations of the display are also shown very fluid. Each adjustment is explained in detail, one needs help, is always at the Help function.
Refilling of the paper tray or the replacement of cartridges is explained in detail on the basis of short videos. No one should have a problem with that.
The device is really easy to use, I like it very much.

7) quality, ink usage, speed and volume
The quality of prints convinced me totally. Whether photos or documents, the HP print everything with lace poor quality and that too very quickly. As mentioned above, please accept more accurate data to documentation and data sheets.
But I am disturbed that the ink by also expresses strong on the back of the paper. Sometimes does not look very nice.
The ink smeared also relatively easy.
In my opinion, the HP has a very precise and very fast printing.
I also like that the first printing begins immediately right after the start of the device. There is no long wait here.
The HP has a print head with directly mounted cartridges. For devices, for example, Brother, the cartridges are not used on the print head carriage, but laterally into the device. If the cartridges sit directly on the print head, the printer is usually louder. Also, when the HP is the case. The volume in the "normal" mode is perfectly acceptable. The volume in the "fast" mode is very noisy.
Ink consumption:
... Considers himself the HP I think back. I am printing now with the setup and the ink set quite a long time. The ink level indicator is really inaccurate. Internet searches revealed the following: The HP measures the level not in the individual cartridges, but trying the remaining capacity to be determined based on the pressure behavior. Depending on what is being printed, the bar in the display will be shorter. The level is therefore estimated and not measured as with other devices, for example, my second unit and accurately determined. The HP also prints even when ink runs out, which does not surprise me, because as I said, the ink capacity can not be accurately measured. When the ink is displayed as empty, that does not mean that it is really empty.
Information about the ink cartridges:
I opened an empty ink cartridge and analyzed the structure of the cartridge. Compared with the cartridges of Brother is located in the cartridges of HP just a sponge with ink. In the cartridges of Brother to various chambers and Füllstandsregelungen- are therefore significantly more complex. For information only: The cartridges of HP you can theoretically fill with a syringe not by Brother.
Information about the cleaning:
The HP unfortunately allows himself quite often, actually often a cleaning, but which lasts no longer than half a minute. The HP always cleans itself immediately after switching on the device, but only during periods of inactivity of the printer.
I've noticed that the pages are quite strong covered. This strikes me as the paper gets small waves. Test printouts Brother liked in this regard more.
