The installation is relatively easy, my Selfsat is mounted on a balcony stand and adjusted with a professional instrument. Again, the compact overall size is noticeable. a turn of a few millimeters can be Selfsat the signal strength drop from 80% to 65% quickly.
If the Selfsat "free" does not wind protected places mounted (eg on balcony railings) is adjusted in a storm quite possible.
My tip: check the settings of Selfsat (bracket and joint) just after initial installation with a permanent marker. So you can adjust when the system quickly "turn back" right
Unfortunately, the first Selfsat was after 1 week defective (it was too little voltage at the LNB to give a to / on the LNB was not possible). The replacement is running smoothly for 2 months.
Otherwise, the system is really very inconspicuously, my neighbors did not notice until after 4 weeks that I have mounted a satellite system, and also just because I quit the cable connection.
Conclusion:
Who can not use a "proper" bowl / can can specify a Selfsat itself without hesitation.
On the internet we read often that the LNBs of Selfsats after 1-2 years without fail what warranty has a new purchase to follow. I will update my review in accordance with, possibly even weather-related outages.
My experience so far after 2 months:
- Alignment of Selfsat with professional instrument under an overcast sky and light rain (optimal for orientation). ZDF HD signal quality with a VU + Box: 72%
- Clear skies: Signal Quality: 78%
- Mist: Signal Quality: 78%
- Considerable cloudiness: Signal Quality: 76%
- Heavy rain: Signal Quality: 70%
usually occur glitches on only at levels below 55%, below 45% any further reception possible (these dropouts, I had but so far only "simulate")
Update 20.12.2011:
now we also had several times heavy rain and heavy snowfall.
Result: everything as usual - no delivery restrictions. only RTL HD had formation of small blocks in heavy snow 1-2x.
Update: 03.01.2013
after 1,5Jahren operation I can only say: TOP! Total there were weather-related 3 short outages of about 10minutes.
why an ugly 80cm "bowl" install when the SelfSat it can just as well?
However SELFSAT is with me protected from rain (roofed balcony)
and fair to say that probably the SelfSat or the plastic casing is not as durable, we will correct a satellite dish.
Update: 04/24/2014
even after 3.5 years, there are still no problems with the SelfSat, storms, snow & rain all without problems or readjust survived. the plastic (on the overhanging edge) has become slightly brittle (but not broken)
