The device is equipped with everything necessary, in particular lack the CI slot, but as already mentioned, in this case is not a problem, because it is indeed used as a secondary device. It can handle all common formats (MPEG-2, MPEG-4, H.264) in various containers (AVI, MKV, MPG, MP4 and TS) and is therefore also suitable as a player. In order to bring the recordings for further processing in the computer, the copy function of the operating system is sufficient. Unlike older DVB receivers so no special program on the PC to read the images is required.
The timer settings are retained even after a reboot. You can switch off the device after programming and it turns on to start in a timely manner to the recording exactly 1 minute before the recording itself. When switched off, the display still shows the current time. It is located in a kind of sleep mode.
I would like to highlight the company Xoro in German well-prepared site. Under downloads you choose from a list of its type, which you should already be aware of whether it is the version for DVB-S, DVB-C or DVB-T. For the model XORO HRK 7560 there was a new firmware v1.8 of 04/02/2015, which I immediately downloaded (3MB) and thanks to the simple instructions to me easily installed. With a new firmware all timers are cleared and you have the programs that you want to record, re-enter. For the whole package (device configuration, functionality, price, support) I forgive good conscience 5 Stars.
And do not forget the power supply connections using a simple Euro plug, as we know it from the razor ago. For once, no bulky power adapter that takes the place of 2 sockets.
For recording quality there is nothing to say. The broadcasts come as they were received on the external hard drive. The service is perhaps a bit strange (sometimes you can exit the menu with Exit, but not with the OK button, as it is written) but is, in 5 minutes to learn.
The remote control is light as a feather. You can -if wel- vertically before his eyes keep them, because the transmitter diode is arranged so that it shines off the back of the FB and forward. The strange habit especially older people who think they have to aim with the FB as with a pistol the machine first, here is unnecessary. To me, that is a gain in comfort.
Conclusion: recommendable, inexpensive, puritanical, functional.
