The book still has some good points: a nice gallery of characters (although we would have liked them to be more extensive, they are nonetheless very much alive and not stereotyped), an original premise (vampires made their coming out and demand the same rights as humans), a very different vampire story of everything that is done on the subject (which mostly caters to a younger audience and consistently uses the same strings), a beautiful draft social portrait of the USA, and a plot that takes relatively breath and makes you want to read more.
Those looking for a stated literary style will be disappointed, because the novel, written in the first person (the narrator being Sookie) gives the impression of being the transcription of a story that was told orally. However, this is not bad because Sookie is expressed in a vivid and compelling way without being overbearing. The author Charlaine Harris has created a good storyteller. I prefer in any case far this style to other styles and forced literary nickname that I have encountered. This first volume reads quickly by this very fluid writing and suspense that keeps a good pace of play.
Although I did not find the depth of the series, I enjoyed this reading and intends read more. I would advise anyone (content is much softer than the series), especially those looking for a fantastic plot that does not feel warmed, not too put off by oral style, and fans of the series interested in the genesis of True Blood.
