Why the radio play works for me personally, despite all good ingredients not that right? - My impression is that Titania has tried a little too much of a good thing. The Tchaikovsky music is not always used well, because it sometimes quite complex composition interferes with the dialogues, rather than to accompany them. I even had time to - as it turned out false - impression that the music does not belong to the radio play, but comes from the neighborhood. And the word "dialogue". The scenes would have been a bit shorter here and there. Christian Wolff as restrained sonorous storytellers I like pretty good, and if he says, comes fairytale atmosphere. The dialogues but included but may have more get to the point (and must), if, for example, Kay and Gerda quarrel or the grandmother Kay behaves toward outrageous. The scenes are then almost something modern, like a dispute in which the Supernanny comes a moment later around the corner to settle to. If the whole is then also accompanied by dramatic Tchaikovsky music which disturbs the atmosphere, and so some scenes seem almost as atmospheric breaks in Wonderland. Overall, I gained the impression that the production is a bit overloaded. So I agree with Rumburaks review, in the atmosphere better, though unfortunately somewhat brief CD The Snow Queen from the home Europe is pointed.
But despite all the criticism, I would nevertheless like to state that the Titania-version of the "Snow Queen" is well worth listening to. Some things may also be a matter of taste.
