Good, but deductions for equipment annoying shortcomings.

But I take the liberty to complain about the player ZP 120: The absence of both a pre-amp analog output and a digital output of the music being played is very annoying. The device is therefore to be used exclusively as an amplifier to the (passive) speakers. Who needs a streamer for connection to an external amplifier or powered speakers quality that needs to pick up the ZP90.

One may argue that the ZP120 is nunmal sold as an amplifier. However, I expect at a price of around 450.00 a bit more universal applications, for example with regard to future changes / adjustments of the home system. The cost of a version of the connections should be in the range 1 because the internal signals are anyway available.

Who would not follow me here, let me tell you that the previous model ZP100 still had a low run analog output (!!). This is then "lost" the successor ZP120. So please do not with quality products, Sonos! That's the customers patronizing.

Obviously it fits better into sales concept when the customer has to do with an "either-or" decision between the ZP90 and ZP120 the. A (higher-priced) device that can do everything, so is not on offer. A rogue also who in the ZP90 a particularly high margin suggested in this context.

Otherwise, the amplifier (the general aspects of the Sonos system, please check with the strikes reviews): For a class D amplifier with switch mode power supply of the subjective hearing impression is good. The performance is more than adequate for normal home use, even with speakers with low efficiency. For party rooms with neat sound "bang" should consider a subwoofer (Subwoofer output available).

Anyone who thinks that a ZP120 to buy audiophile potential, you are wrong. A direct listening test with my Accuphase E-206 amplifier (20-year-old high-end baby with plenty of power and Woman Acceptance Factor of exactly zero) has the ZP120 in the barriers. But that is in line with expectations and can not lead to the devaluation.

So my rating: Three stars. If Sonos should provide the signal output again, smooth a star more. But an ugly sales policy with very high-priced products must now times would be punished, and that these are the Amazon reviews as well. Or, more briefly: The equipment is insufficient given the price.
