General operation
Since it is the first device with Android for me, most of the comments are more general. Androidkenner can skip this part. The first steps were as iPhone accustomed still difficult for me but I adapted successfully only after only 1-2 days. Operation is neither better nor worse but different in the first place. Personally, I find the presence of the Back button to be very practical, the Program switch, however, is well resolved on the iPhone in software as well. It is certainly true that not all animations on the touch Edge as smooth and visually appealing are like on the iPhone, but I'm not that important. Managing your contacts and this is much more important to me, however on Android much better resolved than on the iPhone.
Is used on the Galaxy Note is Samsung TouchWiz Edge surface I find intuitive and practical. However, I get several times a day that TouchWiz starter was finished, that sucks. I also find it inappropriate that you can not remove the Flipboard app. I hope that result from both changes in the attached notice update to Android 5.
Another deviation from other Android devices is the presence of the S Pen. This can quickly make notes and drawings for which you need on-screen keyboard, or your fingers significantly longer. A useful addition in conjunction with the big screen, but the removal of the pen is more hackelig.
Edge Screen
The eponymous side screen is the only change of note Edge opposite the grade 4 and drives up the price significantly higher. In addition to this great look but also offers added value. Notifications are then displayed without the use of the application in the foreground to influence and a short swipe leaves some applications, such as shortcuts, weather, consumption data show etc. Eg control buttons appear when applying support the side screen here. It makes sense to use the side screen only when you hold the device in his left hand. While there is a setting that you can operate the device upside down but the fact that it is the buttons are at the top makes all unusable.
Summary
+ High speed operation
+ Bright and large display
+ Optional pen operation
+ Well-functioning fingerprint sensor
+ Side screen not just gimmicks but real added value
o mediocre battery life (maximum 1 day)
o rather bulky (large footprint and quite thick)
- High premium over Grade 4
Update (22/04/2015): In the meantime, I am very disappointed that there is still no update to Android 5.0.1. This was announced in February and published in other countries until today but not in Germany.
