I use the oil for a long time as a universal Lubricants, and for impregnation. It is a clear liquid, non-solidifying, has very good creep, is mE food safe (seals grease in the kitchen), and the oiled parts can easily be cleaned again. For me Ballistol belongs in the "drug cabinet" as Vaseline or stearin "home remedies" - as the manufacturer writes - meet's quite good.
