I was able to test a Canon LEGRIA HF G25 camcorders comparison with a Panasonic HC-X929 and Sony HDR-PJ780. The Canon camcorder with up to 1920 × 1080 / 50i 24 Mbit / s record. The colors look balanced and natural on a calibrated monitor. The colors are mE but the Sony camcorder strong, esp. The skin tones like me better with the Sony camcorder. Sharpness and image quality are very good, even under poor lighting conditions. However, I could see from the Mathildenhöhe in Darmstadt located on the spire of the flag about 10 km from the Bismarck tower on the Ludwigshöhe the German colors only on the recording of the Sony camcorder clear. The max. Focal Length in all tested camcorder is about 300 mm. The operation of the Canon camcorder I find not so successful. The power button for 1-2 seconds must be pressed and the lens cover is opened manually to switch on. The other devices must only be opened the display and the devices are ready. The automatic scene selection, face detection and focus tracking function well. User-definable parameters, such as exposure (+ - 2.5 AE) can via a dial on the back panel can be changed quickly. Focus, settings, audio control can be made completely manual. The Image Stabilizer of the Canon camcorder is effective, but clearly not as good as that of Sony HDR-PJ780. The built-in 2-channel microphone already delivers good results in the automatic mode. Unlike the Sony camcorder, it is not disconnected from the device and can not be fitted with a mechanical windshield. The audio recordings with Sony camcorders are much better. However, the noise is even stronger with the Panasonic camcorder. A video light and flash are missing. Conclusion: The good-sized Canon camcorder I am not completely satisfied. Despite the relatively high price, I will keep the Sony camcorder.
