Customer Review

What makes today so special about Slade from. There were a myriad of hard rock bands in the later decades, but just Slade has a certain charm, which is connected to old memories.
In 1971 and 72 the hit parade was mostly full of German pop and melodic songs like Middle of the Road. As it was for many children and teens (who were interested not for LPs and Deep Purple) unusual to hear these loud hard rock sounds in such a high chart positions for the first time.
The group lived on the cutting voice Noddy Holder, loud guitar riffs and violin (sometimes). The lyrics were intentionally full of spelling mistakes and Cockney slang and crazy, but somehow accessible and positive. It was - fortunately - not the time of the neurotic and hostile texts of some groups of later times. They spread a good mood despite the aggressive sounds.
Anspieltips "Take me bak ome" (the loudest firecracker in the charts in holiday 1972), "Mama we all crazy now", "Merry Christmas" (which has since heard at Christmas time countless times every year on the radio).
The great age of Slade was 1971-74, where they were constantly in the top places of the charts. Which Heavy Group today can make that claim? Then it became a little quiet around the British, many lamented that, so they had become accustomed to Sweet and Slade. This CD shows that Slade had also talent for softer songs that remain good in the ear ("My Oh My"). For the older ones already a must and also a source of information, which the group has done so later, they might have had quite still one or two minor hit.
Another CD of Slade I recommend "Slade - Alive" a rousing live document with an intimate atmosphere of the 1970th
