The Fuji Finepix F200EXR has a slightly larger image sensor (1 / 1.6 inch), to the 12 million pixels are included. Now you might think that Fuji along with this mega-pixel race. But Fuji has come up with something intelligent. There are always 2 identical color pixels adjacent to each other. So you have several options (EXR mode):
1. High resolution. There are all 12 million pixels used to obtain detailed images possible.
2. High sensitivity. There are 2 to increase adjacent, identical pixels grouped around the photosensitivity.
3. High dynamics. The 2 adjacent, identical pixels are exposed differently. There are produced 2 recordings and combined into one photo. HDR photography, so to speak.
Now some Observations. It took a while until I looked through at the camera somewhat. There are many settings and you often do not know if the EXR mode is also used for other automatic programs or not. It can be assumed, but know you do not do it. At Fuji but there is a rather interesting forum, so I was getting wiser. Other modes of the camera also use the EXR mode. However, it is not in the manual.
As much as I am delighted with the performance of the sensor, so I am disappointed by some other things.
The optical system (28 mm to 140 mm) is characterized blurred at the edges in wide angle, but what is likely to be in most compact cameras with a 28mm WW the case. But still. It bothers me. The barrel distortion at wide angle, which is stronger than that of other camera manufacturers. The USB port is none of the usual mini-USB, but a self-construct, because by connecting even the VGA connection is also produced. Even the movie mode is no longer corresponds to the current standard (640x480 VGA, no zoom during recording), but I can do without it, since it concerns me on the photo quality.
And with which I am, even if marred by slight blurring in the WW area something very satisfied. It is simply amazing what masters the camera for different lighting situations. Exactly what I wanted. If possible, no flash photography! Available light photography is actually always been my profession. And this is the first compact camera with which I can implement this! I would have have loved to have liked a stronger push, but .... you have to stop compromising ...! :-)
Although it is a bit bulkier than my "old" Casio, but still an "Always-and-everywhere-casual-camera"! ;-)
