The concept of this camera has impressed me from the beginning:
Large focal range, fast lens, viewfinder, small dimensions and slightly larger sensor than the usual compact. The ergonomics of the camera (in direct comparison to RX100 Sony) I think is very successful.
Even with large (and slim ?!) fingers is the camera easy to hold and to use.
And it's so wonderfully narrow.
But we come to quality of images.
Preface: I photographed exclusively in P or A mode and used up to the panorama mode no automatics.
I had the camera during my summer vacation with the Baltic Sea.
The results were below 3 conditions good to very good (for a camera of this size!).
As long as the light (the sun) appears from behind the subject and there is sufficient light and the ISO range below 400 will succeed with the camera beautiful and sharp pictures (!).
The focal length is not important under these conditions. Of course it is but a little softer at 200 mm!
Contrast, color, details are displayed very atmospheric.
And even in the 1: 1 view of the monitor to see the images well.
The often criticized feathering can be neglected, in my opinion.
She does not really matter in the real world. What can not be said, for example, the Panasonic TZ61.
But once it is cloudy or the light weaker (we're not talking about low light!) It looks quite different.
See for yourself at ISO 80 the images often 'slack' from. I can describe the hard right. Approximately as if you
look through a very lightly soiled glass pane.
A used for comparison Nikon S8200 (25-350 mm and a smaller sensor with 1 / 2.33 in) reflected
here is clearly better. Nikon seems easy to mount with a better lens, though admittedly
fainter.
Another problem is easy to light, and laterally incident light. Here is a similar situation
as with less light.
I suspect that there is a problem with the lens quality here. I had the camera after my holiday again
returned to Amazon and made a second attempt with a different camera.
I could respect. The optical properties not notice any change, unfortunately.
Very positive I liked the panorama mode. Freehand is me never so easy (!) Attractive panoramas
succeeded. This makes the lack of 24 mm wide-angle slightly offset :).
Also, the image stabilization works very well. With practice and quiet hands can useful
Low Light shooting with 1/4 s reach. However, I would be more than ISO 400 fingers.
Well .. and then there's the Seeker: What the hell is going on at Panasonic?
How to implement such a good idea so half-heartedly? The viewfinder is really used only as a stopgap measure.
Unfortunately, the optical quality is very poor. Again, the comparison with the TZ61: Normally, you should of
same viewfinder be installed. But the does not seem that way. The viewfinder of my TZ61 was sharper and more stable viewing angles !.
My conclusion: with a very good light, the camera would have definitely earned 4.5 out of 5 stars.
Due to the not satisfactory for me other picture quality I have to deduct one point again
and round the whole on 3 point from. I hope I could help some in their purchasing decision.
