Customer Review

### Brief for readers in a hurry ###

+ Perfect size for people holding your mouse with your fingers.
+ Basic shape corresponds to that of the Logitech VX Nano
o Software does not draw full potential of
o cable quickly for use in laptops too short
- Basically great ergonomics is by design technical edges, which are still to unpleasant sharply, disturbed (thumb rest, upper shell at the front)
- Quality questionable. Topside bulges when you press the side buttons
- Wake-lag of up to 20 seconds
- Mouse goes way too fast in the low-power / sleep mode

### Introduction ###

I should point out that I'm not a hardcore gamer and I have never had a "gaming mouse". Also, I am neither pro nor contra Razer nor Pro other brands. This is therefore not a "fanboy" rating, but a critical look at the facts.

I've used a cordless Logitech VX Nano. This has for me personally the perfect shape and size. It also has the additional keys not laterally, but on the top. Unfortunately, the VX Nano is disturbed by my new wireless router, so a precise navigation easier in traffic (including online gaming) is not possible. This mouse is for me as a reference for evaluating the Razer Orochi-2013.

### First Impression ###

When unpacking immediately noticed that the Orochi is very similar in size and basic shape of the Logitech VX Nano. This made me very happy, and is a good start.

After I put the mouse on the mouse pad to their ergonomics short test I was a little disappointed. Although the mouse is in the form of Nano VX are everywhere unpleasant sharp edges rather than smooth transitions. While this may be visually beautiful, but pleasant is not. Especially on the shelves for the thumb and the little finger and directly along the sides where the upper Unlock the edges are located formed to the left and right mouse button unpleasant.

### Set Up ###

The pairing via Bluetooth was seamless. The mouse works, but absolutely imprecise and hackelig. Quasi unusable. While this is ugly, but it may be quite possible without appropriate software and is just about acceptable for me. So I downloaded the Razer software (Synapse 2.0). Lo and behold, the mouse is suddenly used and the software are also immediate feedback when you for example the DPI changes. But the software is not reliable ansich. Times it gives feedback on the modified profile and the next reboot this is suddenly no longer the case.

Although the software has many features, but for my taste the other manufacturers have been handled better. Here me is much more sophisticated and comprehensive before the "Logitech Gaming Software". This is a pesönliche preference and is not included in the evaluation.

### The mouse in operation ###

At this point, the mouse started to weaken. The mouse is suitable for either hand. This means forcibly that you have to compromise on the ease of use in each non-primary mouse page. In this mouse, but this is in my opinion much worse than it should be. For me as a right-handed keys on the right side of the mouse is very difficult to achieve. The front of the two buttons is intended in the Standardkonfiguraton to increase the DPI. This is far from true, as you can easily get there when navigating the mouse. The underlying key is not the hand of the mouse stand out for me unreachable.

The buttons on the left side of the mouse are similarly difficult to operate. The upper shell mouse is on the side buttons more than a little. If you are not exactly pushing the button here, but slightly in front or above, the entire front of the upper shell twists and rears even.

It has already been reported in other reviews that the mouse cable is too short and also very difficult to go back Enfternen.

The former, I can confirm. The mouse cable is very short and not suitable to plug the mouse into a state computer under the table. The mouse is advertised as notebook mouse and accordingly the cable is intended to attach the mouse to a notebook, therefore, probably the cable length. But here is the cable is too short when in a notebook USB slots has on the opposite side of the device. An extension cord would have been here quite nice.

The removal of the cable, however, is a no-brainer if you approach it right. You can actually very early on that you should NOT pull on the cable. Because that helps here also only conditionally and contributes to longevity determined not to. Even the "Slide" on the rough surface of the bottom of the plug really does not have the desired effect. But if you at the base of the plug, real grip in front of the wheel and pulls, then the plug is removed without excessive force in an instant.

Now, make it unusable to the correct unpleasant problems that mouse for me:

- Wakeup-Lag
- Sleep Timer
- Disconnections

Something must at a wireless mouse to catch his. My early as 7-year-old VX Nano has none of these problems and the technology is not really new. That's why I do not accept the "owed the technology" the wake-lag as the reviews.

The mouse is already writing a 10-line form in the sleep / power saving mode (and even while writing this review several times). Power save is all well and good, but why should this be so pushy? The Logitech VX Nano holds half a year with a set of AAA batteries (on a daily basis around 4h use) and the Orochi despite these sleep cycles only about 30h? The Sleep cycles ansich would not be the big problem. Much more annoying is the duration until the mouse wakes up and is ready for operation. First, the mouse is awakened only by clicking the mouse and then has at best been 3-5 seconds needed to be ready for use again. In many cases up to 20 seconds. This is absolutely unacceptable!

Then there are the sporadic disconnections. I have about 6 hours had the mouse in use, and because my connection is also a total of three times demolished. Since then it has lasted about 2 minutes to the mouse has moved to continue working (that did not happen in the recovery phase).

### Conclusion ###

Ingsesamt I am very disappointed with the Razer Orochi 2013. Especially since the first impression was not bad. Mögicherweise I got delivered here a Monday device. I'm going to apply for an exchange and give the mouse another chance.

Deductions give it for the quality, unsightly wake-lag and the button position.

### Supplement ###

The exchange mouse had exactly the same problems. Whether with Bluetooth 1.0 or Bluetooth 4.0 dongle. Can the mouse therefore absolutely not recommended.
