Have ordered the battery grip (BG) for two reasons. First, I wanted to extend the battery life, and secondly a better feel for portrait shots. Both sets of BG safely. The extra weight of the BG does not interfere, on the contrary, the camera is thus in my opinion much better and more stable in the hand. The only "defects" on the handle are the closure of the battery compartment as this sometimes, though very rarely, make good progress and the connection cable which is necessary to trigger the camera at BG because this sometimes disturbs.
Conclusion: A very good extension for EOS and you can not get more for the money!
