Ergonomics:
Philips offers a model that is well in hand, reliable (low risk of breakage) and with large keys. So Dad will not seek his glasses to see the keys and the little one should not blow the remote by shaking in every direction.
However, the number of keys flange reliable opportunities. Certainly there is the possibility to enter commands such as SHIFT + 4 to turn subtitles on a DVD. But admit that with 4 devices, you hardly forgive them multiple combinations. Personally, I've never managed, and am always wrong keys when trying to change the language and subtitles of a DVD.
Installation:
Virtually automated for Philips devices. For other brands, if recognition does not happen spontaneously, you must enter a 4-digit code by the brand of the product. Tested with a DTT receiver Thomson, no problems noted.
There is no possibility to customize its buttons or shortcuts. This is unfortunate, because it would facilitate their memorization.
Interest:
A small family control the volume, change channels, play back a DVD ... but that is no substitute to the original remote to change more advanced settings.
