Since we had not just been a lot of experiences with dog food, I had firstonce research what distinguishes this way, it should have a higher protein and fat content have, as the adult food. I happened to have at home, which comes a sample pack of simple Adult Original dry food Pro plan well with the flavor chicken and rice. So I had compared the two synopses once.
In the analytical constituents is listed that about 30% proteins and 19% fats are included. In the adult version of Pro Plan is 26% protein and 16% fat content. At 3 and 4 percent not madness difference, I can not imagine that this is so much mind in the end.
On the packaging of the puppy food is advertised to the trademarked term OPTI START, which included food for the "optimum start in life" is intended to ensure. A clever marketing can often already be "half Sale" .... Behind the OPTI START, the addition of colostrum, "a special ingredient that is rich in natural antibodies and proven support the immune system and stimulates (...)" shall hide. Colostrum is with 0.1% of the last item in the compositions. What colostrum is supposed to be exactly where it comes from, or in which chemical processes it is won, I could not see from the brochure. Therefore, I would not really want to reinforce these concepts, since they are mainly sound good and influencing purchasing decisions.
DHA (of breast milk) would also be as a component which is hardly contained at 0.06%, but is still present advertising effect.
The dry food per se smells very pleasant and safe for the dog appetizing. I would also say that you can really sniff out the chicken (20%). The croquettes are advised very small, so my dog is not really animated for chewing. I have Theo also repeatedly observed as he simply picks up the feed only with the tongue and swallows, with larger breeds this will certainly be even more extreme.
Theo takes the food very good. He does not eat any dry food with this enthusiasm. I have found no incompatibility. Unfortunately, it has, however, can not solve our problem skin, where the lining also advertises with the health of the skin and the skin by omega-3 fatty acid.
The dried fodder of Pro Plan are certainly better than most, which are available at discount stores or supermarket and previously landed in Theos well, but here's my big But: For this price I expect better! And I am guided by the price per kilogram, as it appears here. Of course, there are more expensive feed, but in this price range I can also can expect grain-free food or a feed is not included in the cereal so much! Second wheat is already listed, a little later just adds corn - all that a healthy dog does not necessarily need.
If I decide to invest in high-priced food for my dog, I would look for fleischhaltigeren varieties that dispense partly or completely on cereals. One can in this respect also be able to find, especially as regards smaller suppliers or division online shops. (In this regard, I was able to collect good experiences with Dogz Fine Food.)
This at a price-performance ratio.
I want the food not so much talk bad, because that's not it! I only give my opinion again, I was able to form me in the course of food tests. Thanks to Pro Plan and the Insider for the great opportunity to do this again!
