One thing first: In the relevant media reported lately increased over that IP cameras tend of China, "to call home."
As we are connected exclusively via VPN from outside our network, we can do without features of the camera as DDNS and the camera must therefore no longer be able to access the Internet.
Therefore, we have blocked the access of the camera to the Internet in our Fritzbox.
The DBPower IP camera can optionally be integrated via Ethernet cable or Wi-Fi to the network. For testing we have connected via Ethernet cable to our Fritzbox. Then we have the camera's IP address in the browser and could sign us with the username "admin" and no password on the IP Camera.
The web interface of the IP camera DBPower is not particularly modern, but quite manageable and functional. We initially username and password changed and then joined us with our WLAN. Once this is done, the Ethernet cable can be pulled off and be placed at any location within the house the camera.
You can through the web interface directly leave the camera image display. Using different button, the camera can then upwards / be / swung down and left right. For us it worked very well both on the laptop and on the smartphones.
Meanwhile, the webcam is on the corner and filmed our garden gate in about 5m distance. At this distance, everything can be seen clearly. The image is described as good in daylight. In the dark, the image quality can be for something, at the price of the camera allows the but get over.
CONCLUSION: Good IP camera for very little money
