Unfortunately, the appearance showed after 4 months the first signs of a defect. The digital contact to the camera lost with increasing frequency the connection, which meant that auto iris, auto focus and EXIF data were no longer working (storage of the data of the lens used in the image file).
Kindly Amazon has withdrawn the optics without great demands. A phone call, an e-mail and the package returned.

For the people who want to read any long reviews I suppose the bottom line right away: For little money you get a great lens makes good photographs. However, with some restrictions. Autofocus is not usable in order, but for videos. Images are relatively sharp and show little distortion and moderate chromatic aberration. In addition to the kit lens well suited.

For my setup, I use the lens already a few weeks in combination with the kit lens EF-S 18-55 IS II /3.5-5.6 and some prime lenses on an EOS 650D. I have also the direct comparison with the Tamron 18-200mm. This review is intended to show you my personal opinion only, I refer neither to readings or similar nor am I a professional photographer.
Processing:
Generally, I would describe the processing as well. The lens is slightly heavier than the EF-S 18-55 and also a good deal larger. It is also made of the same plastic. Even the bayonet is made of plastic, which I do not see in person but as a problem, so you can just cut costs. Nevertheless, the whole is fit and makes a high impression. The comparison with a Canon L it can not withstand course. This is but given the price difference perfectly fine.
Sharpness:
Pictures of this lens are sharp for normal claims. For a professional photographer, the optics would certainly be too soft - but such professionals also use lenses that can ever cost 8 times! For everyday use, the lens is well suited here.
Chromatic aberration (color fringing):
Yes, they are definitely there! However, these are not very disturbing. They can also remove by image processing without problems.
Distortion:
Personally, I can even recognize on photos such as brick walls no strong distortion. Neither 55 nor at 250mm. Distortion seems not be a big problem with this look. Given other reviews on Amazon but I'm not sure if I've only caught a particularly good specimen or whether I am to the effect simply insensitive.
Aperture / Bokeh:
The aperture of /4-5.6 is not the absolute charm but it can also be in low-light situations using the IS shoot halfway usable photos. It should be here, but be aware that really high ISO values are needed. This inevitably leads then to image noise. Who really wants to shoot low light situations should resort to lenses with larger aperture such as the EF 50mm /1.8.
In addition, a variable diaphragm is ugly when you adjust the focal length. Sometimes you have to then adjust its settings namely the image is not under or overexposing.
The Bokeh I personally find very appealing. Lighting circuits are nearly circular, which is due to the 7 aperture blades. -Top!
Autofocus:
Compared with the kit lens of this lens Af is much quieter. I would even say that it is slightly faster. Compared to an ultrasonic or stepping motor, however this micro-motor acts as a sleeping pill. (Again, lenses using these technologies cost considerably more and are therefore not directly compare) In normal use, however, this is not bad. And the autofocus of the Tamron 18-200mm lens makes this even without problems behind. One can conditionally use in sports photography it even. Unless you want to photograph racing car so this should work. For video recordings of Af is however completely useless. It takes ages to the perceived focus sitting times and before he fits time pulls the lens often to. And even then the lens is often considerable outlier has where it simply turns the entire focus ring back and forth once and still has not focused at the end. For serious movie recordings but you should already use the manual focus. Who still wants to necessarily use the autofocus should resort to lenses with STM technology.
