To Setup: 4x WD RED 3TB in RAID 5.
Operating 24/7 with UPS without HDD standby
First my system software SHR (Synology Hybrid RAID) had suggested, but I did it but then switched to raid. 5
For the reason because if a hardware failure occurs, it may is possible to install the boards in a PC where you can perform a restore. I know a NAS is not a backup solution, but if the backup at the time is a little one is back to the standard RAID 5 be better served what data recovery is concerned.
Of course I had some requirements which the NAS is concerned: High performance, quiet, x86 architecture and many adjustment possibilities.
The startup was simple and straightforward, push hard drives in the hot-swap bays, power and connect LAN cable, finished.
Then you will be guided by means of the web interface through the installation.
Setting up the raids took about 8 hours. Meanwhile, you can admire the DiskStation course already used.
Create shared folders, user created and shifted data, then set up the libraries and everything works fine.
Currently I use the Disk Station to media in LAN and Internet (DNS Provided) to stream.
Whether TeamSpeak 3 Server or Plex everything runs fine. The internet modified packages for the DS415 +
Too bad that it is not officially completed and outputs the packets, it has already lasted for a while until I found everything.
The Synology mobile apps for "iOS" are very good and everything works well here perfectly Whether DS audio, DS or DS Download file.
Finally I have a forum on the DS to run. 24/7
What bothers me is the front panel USB 3 are not, but what is manageable at the price should really be self-evident.
I can not say anything because I just use a port that is also operating at full capacity, even if it is copied from the DS on a USB disk are no speed loss on the performance in the LAN.
Astonished, I am my USB sound card is detected although it is not on the compatibility list. Thus, I can my old amplifier "digitizing" and play from any phone, tablet or PC / MAC music. Sound Card: "Creative Sound Blaster"
I would recommend this device without hesitation. Whether private or commercial.
