Images, Audio Basics:
===================
The W805B has rich colors and good black levels and thus in the dark an appealing TV picture.
Clouding obviously subject to variation within a series. I had only the 50-inch model, which had weak but large areas Clouding in black image. In normal image but that was not on. The 55-inch model, which I then retained, however free from clouding.

The light sensor I switched because my image was so too flat.

Sony's specialty is the good scale functions, also with SD channels provides the TV still a decent picture. The video EQ can also not perform miracles and compute details that are not included in the signal. This can be seen especially on smaller details such as scenes with smaller heads that look bad.

A major disadvantage is the limited viewing angles. Displayed in some professional tests made 22 degrees one must unfortunately accept only. When 50-inch model, the colors fade when you go out of alignment of the side frame. When 55-incher, the viewing angle is slightly wider. This is a principle related weakness when installed VA panel. Better viewing angles only offer TVs with IPS panel as the W995B, then however with significantly poorer black level.

The panel is semi glossy. In my living room is very bright when the sun shines the image still acceptable (slightly worse than with my old mats TV). On the pitch fit for me the recommendations of the magazine CHIP to SD material to perceive no ugly artifacts more (3.70m at 50 inches).

The sound is acceptable for messages See, however, significantly worse than my old TV. When I switch on the W805B on my surround speakers are simply worlds apart. For this, the housing may now simply become too thin, as the sound could not keep up. I have a feeling the 55-inch model of the sound is a bit better than the 50-inch model.

The TV is Dolby Digital 5.1 HDMI via the return channel to a connected AV receiver on. This works, for example, in digital cable television, the Amazon Instant Video app and the Media Player.

Zapping with digital cable channels is fast enough for me, much faster than my old KLD-40EX605. The menus react smoothly with the latest software version. After turning on the TV shows instantly picture and sound but needs 30-60 seconds to fully boot up, and to respond to inputs.
The TV can remotely control connected HDMI devices. The automatic switching on and off of my AV receiver, and the volume control works so well.

3D:
====
The TV can convert 2D material automatically, the depth is adjustable. With Star Trek Into Darkness gave a beautiful 3D image. Spectacular Dropouteffekte seen but of course only with real 3D material. Ghosting is me in the movie just so rare and weak noticed that it is not distracting. With the 3D output of Avatar, the 3D image has a very nice spatial depth. For 3D movies, it is worthwhile to get closer to the TV. Curiously, the 3D image of an angle from above acts quite a bit more spacious.

Externals and delivery:
==================================
The pedestal is mounted quickly and easily and sufficiently stable for my taste. The 805B has an external power supply as it is known from notebooks. In case of damage, the power supply could thus be easily removed and replaced. It has the form of a chunky black brick pad and disappear with me behind the AV receiver.
The remote control does not win a prize for quality appearance. But it is light and the buttons work well, now I quite like like them even. The Magic Remote is not included and costs extra, I have refrained. Optional can be controlled by Sideview app with the phone or tablet to the TV also. A camera for Skype is also not included.
The package includes two 3-D glasses and angle to take advantage of the Stand as wall mount. (The angle there is the 55-inch model is not with them.) For use as a wall mount you would have to additionally get six screws with 8mm diameter, these are not supplied.

Additional Features:
================
The TV has in Germany Apps for streaming services Amazon Instant Video, Watch Ever, Sony Video Unlimited and recently Netflix. The Apps of TV channels offer Unfortunately no content and are therefore uninteresting. Only the Tagesschau app has enough content. The remaining apps are largely simple games and advertising Apps for Sony films. The jumble of apps is not sorted by category, which is simply made poorly. There is an app for the Opera store, among other things, provides some interesting Internet TV Apps and a fireplace screensaver. In Austria and Switzerland the Amazon Instant Video app is actually not available, according to user reports.

There are a TV App "Internet Browser", which can also display Flash videos. The operation of the browser is unfortunately unreasonably with the normal remote control. Entering URLs and navigating the site is extremely slow and cumbersome.
When the TV-Browser but on the mobile app "Sony TV Side View" remote-controlled, then the speed is acceptable and you can fairly easily
- Enter Internet addresses
- Up and down on the screen to scroll by wiping scrolling
- Use the phone display as a touch pad to move the pointer in the browser and click
Bottom line, the TV-Browser is of interest mainly for sites where the big screen is important. For example, as for video pages, for the offers of TV no app. For everything else I'd rather surf directly on the smartphone. Simply because the smartphone is the use of a piece and surfing feels comfortable.

About HbbTV are also still accessible, the video libraries of TV channels via red button. The contents are only limited interest (for which Sony but nothing can). US series are not to be found there, only self-produced broadcasts. In the transmitters some additional apps are hidden, at Pro7 eg for video Load (with a limited movies).

The App for Amazon Instant Video sets when calling it's something that a minute's silence. Compared to KL40EX605 has made a huge leap forward and a half back design and usability of the app. The Vorschaltfilm to test the bandwidth is omitted and instead the input of Jugendschutzpin and the forward and back playing with this app version is only possible using the onscreen keyboard, which is a bit annoying.

The built-in media player can play via DLNA eg shared files from the PC. Unfortunately, the player can not display folder structures and does not support Windows Media codecs. The photo player is also quite picky. From some pictures it shows, strangely enough, although the preview, but then can not display the image itself. The players should therefore only be regarded as Zusatzgimmick. An all-round happy solution is not safe.

Recording of TV programs can be programmed on the TV via the EPG. The EPG has but at some stations the program only two days in advance. Alternatively, can be in the EPG also record the date and time schedule recordings.
The mobile app "Sony TV Side View" has a program guide with longer lead and is therefore for most channels to program recordings the more convenient solution. However, the app for some channels has unfortunately no data (for example, Tele 5).
The hard disk is reformatted and encrypted on your TV and then can only be used by the TV. The TV has no editing functions and the recordings can not be edited on the PC. The photographs are tied to the TV, with a replacement or second unit if they were not so useful.
During recording, you can watch any other stations, since the TV only has one tuner (the 4K models of Sony have two).
The use of smart apps (eg Amazon Instant Video) is possible during recording.
The TV has a stepped edge at the USB ports on the back, on the I passed the 2.5-inch hard drive highly recognized.

Compatible hard drives for recording:
Sony has only the "WD - My Book Essential" tested (WDBACW0010HBK and WDBACW0020HBK), another compatibility list does not exist. The recommended size is 32GB 2TB Support according to maximum. The WD Elements (1TB) works for me also. According to Sony support, the TV, the hard drive does not wake up from sleep mode, so you must always run with. Therefore, you should make sure to buy a hard drive for quiet as possible.

The channel list can be on a USB stick export (Note of support: the drive must be empty) and edit on your PC. Sony offers on the support page for a program for download. Small stumbling block: the option is only visible in the menu when a stick is connected. For me, the import was not working then. Unhelpful comment of Sony support: the TV can do that, you try again. Meanwhile, I have sorted the channels on the TV.

Conclusion:
=====
For DRM-spoon-feeding, there is a star deduction, otherwise I like very much the TV now. In the evening the picture with HD material is just great. However, it is good because of the fading colors of the page rather than all-round TV for families. At the size you get used to very quickly. I have the 50-inch model but then returned at the end and buy the 55-inch version.
