Average light output for higher price. Marbled quality (defective first device optics, furthermore at least one bug in the menu caused crash, different shades between the individual devices (white appears reddish in a device with middle position, the other blue)). Because DLP rainbow effect there. Dependent buy recommendation.
My experience in detail. Put on the short list I have the LG PA70G who already easily charmed me when unpacking: everything neat and neatly packed, and lo and behold, a thin cloth bag with Velcro is attached. In addition, even a VGA cable, a remote control and instructions included with the CD. Most devices of this class have similar connectivity options, ranging from USB to HDMI.
In operation: Together with a Blue-ray player I've been astonished at first glance, as bright and perfect can be a LED projector. At just 700 lm. I have ever seen for the first time the image of an LED projector :) After I dealt myself with the menu and the brightness levels by clicked, were heard also different significantly loud fan noise.
Normally one does not sit right next to the projector, which is why I do not think that's so dramatic. But because it has a maximum projection distance of 3,063 m has before the image can no longer be to focus, it could possibly play a role in the Presenter among customers, in particular, because presentations are not always carried out in total darkness :)
I compare the device with the Optoma ML500 (500 lm). Here, the Optoma has a mini remote control in credit card format with button cells, but a fancier, more robust zipper pocket (I totally unimportant, but is just doing :). I compared the image side by side on my living room wall. On both devices I tried high-resolution cinema advertising next test images. The Optoma was a MP4 at loggerheads, the LG PA70G had played all my test media correctly. The light output is only slightly weaker at the Optoma projector. In this respect, the additional price for the LG PA70G would not be justified in my view. Furthermore, the Optoma has a more pleasant fan noise, but that was not interesting for my purposes. I wanted the theoretically highest light output!
But: You can not get used to me. After all, the movies I watch anyway with minimum light output. As for the black level by the way, the LG PA70G nose has slightly forward. Here the black bars already look very bleak in movies.
Of course it also depends on what you have with the device. I was looking for a device for the bedroom. Instead of a big black television I can accommodate the projector easier inconspicuously on the shelf. But even in the living room - even with natural daylight, but at maximum light output - an acceptable image!
Regarding DLP I was always critical. But since it technically improved, I was also married to this test. And I really could only see a small rainbow effect. The rainbow effect is so small that I find him first as DLP critics within acceptable limits. Perfect it is so but unfortunately not.
Also the sound is for 2 x 3 Watt not bad. I expected the sound of an old clock radio, but the sound was perfectly acceptable. For home theater applications that is of course much too lean, but the Blu-ray players have a digital audio output for home theater systems.
Now comes the famous But: One should of course all color backgrounds times on the projector look for DLP chip error or paint stains. Also with regard to distortion / distortion by the optics, or general convergence problems (ie, when the three primary colors to produce together in one spot, the color white, but diverge or even further apart). Unfortunately, the LG PA70G was not so convincing in terms of quality. For example, I heart slipped into his pants when I display format of "Full Screen" on when playing movies "16: 9" will switch and inadvertently pressed the button "right", but "the bottom". He crashes easily. But I'm curious, what is still so waiting for me :) The bigger problem is particularly annoying when viewing full-screen text: Even though I turned the image is sharp, it was in the picture-thirds lower right absolutely blurred. No matter what I was doing. Turning, change, focus Voodoo, no success. The thing was just defective. The remote control also has temporarily simply had no desire to press on the "left" button. Well, that was less of a problem, though annoying.
After the arrival of the replacement device I could there reproduce the error menu. The image was largely set sharp (in the small corners like still a small blur be fine). Remote goes perfectly here. Only both LG PA70G in the color-center position different shades: of a reddish and the other blueish. I am forced to the suspect produced inaccurate and without precise controls. And who here on "Made in China" scolds, let me tell you that this device was manufactured in Korea ;-) But it's just just LG - Goldstar.
