The hard drive makes it on my Macbook to about 100-120MB / s throughput which is faster than the WD Passport Sports USB3 disks that bring it to about 80-90MB / s and with the Thunderbolt connection I now have a USB port more freely , The quality is very satisfactory and makes a very robust impression. The specified encryption AES is probably meant more as a joke. The drive does not have Cryptochip! Instead, you can download a software that looks to me very much like the open source software TrueCrypt from the, to my knowledge, has been discontinued. So you can then create encrypted container files. So no cryptograpgische hardware support, such as in the WD Passport drive. Therefore, a star less because I do not need the encryption here, I would need this if there were not 2 star ;-) If you do not need encryption is the LaCie 2TB Rogged a super great drive.
