This extender is worthwhile for Canon EF 70-200mm telephoto zoom 2.8L IS USM Mark II very.
They are a good team. Now I need not buy a 100-400mm 5.6L more.
A 400mm prime lens can not beat this combination course.
The sharpness suffers something already in center, in the corners at full frame
a little more, but surprisingly good. Knackscharf is nothing at 400mm.
Nevertheless, still more details as eg 280mm (Extender 1.4x II) extrapolated.
A test showed: 4L IS NOT: On the 5D Mark III autofocus with 70-200 1 goes!
Warning to potential buyers. If only one 2.8er functional!
1.4x II and 2x III can not be combined, too bad ... not fit mechanich.
Perhaps the image quality would suffer too much.
Gigantic: 400mm at only 1.2m distance!
So you can, for example, dragonflies and frogs and many more. impressively photographed.
Sure makes the extender on a 400mm 2.8L so much fun.
(Blessed is he who has something, and one has the the then still drags ...)
Most hereby want to secure transform their 70-200mm 2.8 to 5.6 140-400.
And that's good. Whether the focus is still on the level of a 100-400er?
Is quite possible, perhaps not quite. But saves this thick lens.
Conclusion: EOS 5D Mark II or III and a EF 70-200mm 2.8L IS USM II? Buy!
Sharpness suffers certainly, contrast and color very well. Images very good quality.
I'll keep him and would recommend him to friends.
Greetings from the Rhineland!
