I bought the unit a few days ago, so I had to gain time for the device as well as a first impression.
Said in advance: the price / performance ratio is good. There are in this size (22 "/ 55cm) no comparable devices with Internet capabilities and alternatives with better media player functions - via USB flash drive - are not known to me.
To get the whole broken down according to various criteria times:
Picture quality (9/10): It is of course better because of the beautiful picture of my 55 "Panasonic plasma does not approach the Grundig However, some quality settings and options are for post-processing, which is optically something can enhance even worse content Unfortunately, the.. (as well as in almost all other equipment usual) only a general configuration and not to specific sources or even individual station applicable What I really like is the automatic brightness adjustment for day and night -. this works though seemingly only for the time and not with a light sensor, I have nevertheless enabled and am content.
Sound (8/10): After Grundig advertises a great sounding "SRS TruSurround HD" I had hoped but a bit more. The output power of 12 Watt true because the achieved volume is sufficient for all purposes. Only the sound quality is not perfect, and available in the Device Settings Equalizer settings are completely useless. Perhaps my disappointment is small but also simply because I am used to better. Still, if you compare that sound similar units of other manufacturers is, beyond question Who's going to win the contest. That's really bitching at a high level.
Material / Design (6/10): When I tried to lift the machine out of the box, has once geknackst really and I thought 'Oh man, I hope does not get the housing already jumping'. From this brief moment fear apart - and no, nothing happened, and I have no idea where this came crackling because the housing I could not see anything - the silbere housing Although acceptable but also in need of improvement. The 2.5 cm thick frame (bezel) is still in order, but he could be happy narrower. That bothers me is why a little, because the plastic used looks a bit cheap and therefore me something to distract from the image itself. The base is surprisingly stable and not slippery, a little way to the inclination I would have hoped for but already. Unfortunately, the black remote control does not fit very well with the TV in silver. Finally, it is this combination of small weaknesses that let me just 6/10 awarded for the materials and their workmanship used.
Operation (equipment) (9/10): As soon as you connect the device for the first time to the power, it turns on instantly. Then you will be guided by a setup wizard through the installation, which shall adopt its truly comfortable. Everything went so simple that I do not need the manual once. The not quite perfect score rests in the relatively cozy transmission scan of digital cable programs. Compared to my Pansonic plasma and a Topfield DVB receiver Grundig is by far the slowest device. If you have made but that time, most people will want to make determined their own sorting of available channels. There, the Grundig can score again, because you can move channels very comfortable and bring the 20 simultaneously visible channels greater clarity. You can station in four separate lists of favorites add unfortunately, you can not change the channel title but.
Operation (daily) (7/10): The switching takes felt forever, but that makes you hopefully not permanently. What good in theory and at first sight looks like (favorite lists, filtered listings), is in daily operation but quickly tedious. Comfortable to use, only the direct station selection - either by directly entering the channel or by using up / down keys. Once you need a list for tuning, one is confronted with in my opinion unnecessary keystrokes, because the list does not automatically close after changing channels! Incidentally, this is a general weakness in the navigation, as well as other menus close automatically after selecting an option. When connecting an external media via USB, the device asks good if you want to go to the Multimedia Player. Unfortunately, this can no longer simply rely, for this you have to manually select the signal source (cable, satellite, HDMI, etc). Tip, however I find the display of the current program in the program list - unfortunately this information is missing but some transmitters, although these actually send EPG information and also be read correctly by the device. Maybe you could have spendieren the compact remote control one or two additional rows of buttons, then you would definitely save some unnecessary keystrokes in the daily operation. Because I think the information displayed to the transmitter and the current program but excellent (better than the already mentioned Panasonic Smart Viera) and also may seem like Grundig has designed the easy switching between the available audio channels, I forgive despite the partly unwieldy operation 7 of 10 points.
Finally, a few other things that do not fit into the aforementioned categories:
+ No external power supply but only a removable and replaceable power cord (C7 small appliance plug)
- Only Energy Class B
- Inert switch and slow switching for HD broadcasters
- Buttons to well hidden at the back (even the on / off button and volume control)
- No genuine power-off. The blue status LED lights up when the device at the power (0.5W according to the specification) depends
My conclusion: the device has some small weaknesses. Thus, the TV does not have a tendency, the material should look high, the black remote control does not match the models in white and silver, the operation is not always optimal and the device is always in standby mode. I would use the 8320 Grundig VLE particularly from the last reason never during camping that (especially in comparison) very good picture and audio quality make this device but an ideal second or third TV and let me ignore the weaknesses.
