Good speed, U3 suitability, fair price!

Since I sometimes wanted to have a U3-enabled USB drive and it cost at a electrical market chain 22 dollars, I have yet gained him as a reserve. The 16GB shrink thanks to the FAT32 file system to about 15 GB. Why such sticks can not be formatted in NTFS, I do not understand, because NTFS has some advantages (no file size limit to 4GB).

The USB flash drive has a retractable plug head, which I find a bit annoying when plugging and unplugging. The USB ports on my tower chassis are slightly on the inside, so I have to hold the slide always, so that the plug head is not sunk. To laptops or other USB ports that should not be a problem.

The first time you plug in the Sticks, the user is asked whether he wants to use it only as a storage medium or a U3 device (removable media with various programs). If you opt for the U3-ability, you can download all the latest U3 programs (OpenOffice, Thunderbird, Firefox, WinRAR, etc.) via the Internet connection and install it. These programs are in an area on the stick. On the stick is also a free another area, but it contains only a few start-up files. You can transform the USB flash drive in the U3 mode in a normal removable media.

Each U3-compatible USB stick can optionally be used as a removable disk or a USB flash drive with applications for the Internet café or the office. This property can be changed at any time switch via software.

The access speed and the data transfer when reading and writing is a good standard and is reading at about 25 MB / s or 7 MB / s when writing. The sticks with less capacity are from personal experience when writing a bit faster (10 MB / s).

Since I already had USB sticks from other manufacturers, I find the price / performance ratio excellent at 22 euros. The local prices seem to me to be normal. For I have bought my offer.

With Emtec and Intuix I have previously had a bad experience, because they are easily processed and bring little benefit. Data s written with 1-2 MB / read and 10 MB / s. Maybe the currently available have improved.

Since Sandisk builds good digital camera memory cards, I trusted them and was not disappointed. There are certainly faster, but they are much more expensive! Now the data exchange is really a pleasure. The slide of the USB stick glows red when data are accessed.

Conclusion: Fast, beautiful USB flash drive at a reasonable price. The U3-ability is unnecessary me, but for Internet-Cafe-users will be useful!
