The Johnnie Walker Double Black is a brand new product from the house of Walker & Sons. It is produced since 2011 and is due to replace the Johnnie Walker Green Label. The Green Label it was a 15 year old blended malt Scotch whiskey, which consisted only of single malts. When Johnnie Walker Double Black is a Hidden Scotch Whisky with shares of single malts and grain whiskeys. Unlike the 12-year-old Johnnie Walker Black Label, has been omitted in the new Double Black in a specified age. The new Double Black is stored in heavily charred, American oak barrels, giving it particularly strong flavors. The storage time should be slightly less with him than with the Black Label. The Johnnie Walker Double Black will be bottled in a very nice dark bottle and sealed with a metal screw cap. Better an ordinary cork closure would have me here like naturally. However, there is a danger that the whiskey loses by a faulty cork quality, or even completely inedible. Because cork is a natural product, there is also the risk that the bottle does not seal properly, and thus the liquid contained, partly loses. In a screw cap these risks do not exist, however. The whiskey remains sealed and assumes no undesirable aftertaste.
Now we come to the tasting:
Nosing:
If one has a glass poured, you can smell a pleasant and not too intrusive peat smoke, with a very fruity note.
Tasting:
If you take the first sip, you can taste a vigorous spiciness and peat smoke. Sweet fruits such as pears and apples, with a touch of vanilla. On the second sip of peat-smoke resigns and there are tropical fruit flavors like mango and pineapple in the foreground.
Finish:
The finish is relatively long-lasting and you can taste a while yet light smoke.
Conclusion:
The new Johnnie Walker Double Black is a decent Blended Scotch Whisky. He is so much better than the 12 year old Black Label. Its aromas are pronounced a lot more complex and much more intense. The age of the whiskey is difficult to assess. It should be from 6 to 8 years old. Priced the new Double Black joins between the Black Label and Gold Label Reserve.

I hope to have helped you with my product review something. If you have any suggestions, criticism or suggestions, please write me. For those who are unfamiliar with particularly whiskey, I recommend this Scotch without ice cubes and enjoy at room temperature. This applies not only for the Double Black, but basically for all whiskeys. If the whiskey too cold, then it smells and tastes a lot less flavor.
The Johnnie Walker Double Black is a good successful Blended Scotch Whisky. For me personally it tastes pretty good and I would not hesitate to give it 3 out of 5 stars. Please do not misunderstand my 3 stars. For 4 stars it is not enough because it does not matured in my eyes long enough and a little too much grain whiskey is included, which gives it a slightly bitter note. Nevertheless, concerns with the Double Black at an above-average Scotch. He is so much better than his little brothers, the Red Label and Black Label.
Best Regards
