Connection side, it's very easy, a power supply via a transformer, and that's it. A small green LED on top indicates that the device is in use.
Then comes the config:
- PS3 side, we must make him recognize the module as a bluetooth remote control is very simple, the menu of the PS3 there is an appropriate topic, the scan is started, pressing the small button on the module, both agree by bluetooth and it is set, the module becomes the controller 7 of the console (why that figure, I do not know ...)
- Remote hand, we must add a new device to be controlled, so Logitech configuration management software, adding a new device, Sony PS3, and it's done (at least with basic settings), found on the LCD screen on the remote control the majority of the official remote control buttons, except those that are hard on the Harmony 785 (play, pause, stop, numbers, menu, etc ...), we can also add buttons not present on the remote control official, but present on a dual-shock (L3 and R3, for example).
Personally, settings defaults do not suit me, because suddenly, the first 3 pages of commands displayed on the screen contained only codes for the PS3, and I wanted to access some settings on my screen and my amp without having to go to trouze thousandth page. So suddenly setting in the software, sync between the remote and the soft, and it was settled.
Then comes the use, and there, even if at first glance, everything works well, I find that there is a "bug" (circumvented when we know, but g ^ ing early) when we want to turn off the console, the PS3 is not equipped with a power off button on the Dual Shock, the remote simulates the sequence should be done with them to turn off the console, namely: Long press the PS button, then go to option off the system and valid unless it is not in the type menu that was pressing PS from XMB (typically in a game where there are more options available) it does not drop the option turn off the system but valid "turn the knob", which cuts off the connection between the PS3 and DualShock if there is one asset. So in this case, all other devices go off, the remote control "thinking" all arrested devices, returns to the default menu ar and we see that the PS3 is still running, so you have to turn off the PS3 by pressing the button facade. As I said, not to encounter this bug, just know before you shut down the devices via the remote control, it will always be returned to the XMB of the console in order to have the menu that corresponds to the sequence sent by the remote.
Another thing to point out, of course, as you turn on the PS3 using a DualShock another accessory, the PS3 asks that you press the PS button of a DS to assign it Controller # 1 (in the same way that if you turn on the PS3 via the front button, she finds herself without lights controller and asks what is in it a lighter). It does not look like much, but if the one who programmed the remote knows, another user can look 5 minutes to why the DS is inactive Notify your surroundings ...!
So in the end it is a good system that makes good service for little more than a formal Sony remote control, except the little constraint on how to turn off the system.
PS: For those who want to use the accessory RF Extender Logitech, it is compatible with the PS3 adapter, allowing the module to hide anywhere in a radius of 10 m from the remote control and 10 m from the PS3, if only one has a manager Harmony RF remote control in addition to the IR (which is not my case).
