Picture:
The TV picture via the built-in cable tuner is very good. HD channels on the device make a great impression, with normal channels finds the absence of resolution, especially in direct comparison with HD channels, clearly on. The TV gets here but still the maximum out. Fast image sequences and camera movements (eg in soccer), the device is clean, there is no re-tightening or other effect can be seen. Even with fast-moving scenes in action movies there's nothing to complain about. If a Blu-ray player uses as a player, the image is of course again a lot better. The full potential can play a 4K video, the device of course only. On the Internet there are corresponding demonstration videos, which can be put via USB drive onto the TV. The difference with normal HD is especially for very detailed images quite visible, but does not fall so great from what I had imagined. All in all, the television a very good image on which I have nothing to complain about.
Smart TV:
The Panasonic runs with Firefox OS. The app selection is quite large for a smart TV, some apps are but so far only a placeholder (YouTube and Netflix) and not actually available. The TV itself can also be controlled via a smartphone app. This can not only replace the remote control also allows the programming of recordings. For this you must first be connected a hard drive to the device. The TV formats this in its own format and recordings thus can not unfortunately play on a computer. The programming via app even works while on the move. So if you have forgotten to set a recording, this can easily catch up on a smartphone on the go. This is even the TV guide of the TV are available. In my test programming went smoothly.
In home network can let stream the TV picture on his smartphone or tablet even.
Also on network shares can be accessed. It can be played then there stored audio, video or photo files. At my test with a video folder, I realized that all videos included among the released are displayed directly and not first the folder where they are stored. With a large collection of the function is therefore useless because one finds nothing.
Other:
After connecting the hard drive for recordings, unfortunately I had to realize that the television dominated no time shift. Actually, I'm used to it, that the current program is always included and you can just rewind if necessary. The Panasonic can not. Also, pressing the Pause key does nothing. The only possibility: take the current program on the "Record" button, then switch to the recordings and watch from here, you can namely view ongoing shots (I know differently).
The on the remote control very prominently placed "Netflix" button annoying. It is directly on the directional pad and one often gets by mistake.
Conclusion:
As a pure TV of Panasonic makes a very good figure. However, the smart TV capabilities are still expandable. There are great features (eg recording of the road program), but it lacks obvious things such as time-shifting and some apps are not yet available. It is hoped that this Panasonic still some subsequently files via update. For the missing functions thus I prefer once from a star. The defective pixels I leave with my rating on the sidelines because they are a transport damage well and it would thus be unfair, they are attributable to the device. Thus stay 4 of 5 stars for the moment.
