The notebook was purchased for an elderly friend. Default was a large screen (17 ", no Full HD resolution, because the presentation is otherwise too small) and a favorable price. The performance has only to surfing's smaller and video editing programs (Windows Movie Maker etc) are sufficient.
Scope of supply:
You will receive this notebook in a very spartan package with power supply, battery and a small guide. The savings here were obviously passed given the low price to the customers,
Processing:
The processing is neat considering the price. All too many expectations may have one but not in the feel - just everything is plastic. The hinge of the display is tight and makes a good impression.
Features:
The technical equipment (i3-3110M, Intel HD4000, SHDD) is perfectly adequate for a basic laptop. The HDD has a large 8GB SSD part - which is not mentioned in the description. This (and in conjunction with Windows 8 / 8.1) the device starts very fast.
Keyboard:
The keyboard is a little spongy (where I usually write very high quality keyboards), but you can work with it. Despite the device size, the keyboard is built very narrow, so the arrow keys protrude into the side numeric keypad. From the factory, the F1 to F12 keys are only accessible via the Fn key, because on these, the multimedia and system buttons (volume, brightness, etc) are stored. One can change the UEFI BIOS. How to boot Windows 8 into the bios here is explained at the end of the article ([...]).
Dispaly:
The display is a bit pale and not too bright. For home use certainly in order, outdoor space is limited. But the latter should not be the main area of application of this notebook.
Upgrading to Windows 8.1
There are problems with the graphics card drivers and Windows 8.1. After you install the update the display will remain black. Were the problem is related in two different forums Windows updates (KB2903939, KB291939) and the graphics card driver offered through Windows Update (Intel Corporation - Graphics Adapter WDDM1.2, Graphics Adapter WDDM1.3 - Intel (R) HD Graphics) identified.

An English manual (with a slightly different approach) can be found here in the ninth post: [...]
Since links are automatically hidden, I copy the instructions from the Lonovo forum from users XtcWolf:
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Here is what led to the goal (Win8.1):
(1) install all critical Windows updates
- Except KB2903939, if offered
- If already installed uninstall KB2903939
(2) Turn off automatic Windows updates
- Instructions here!
Uninstall (3) McAfee
- Can after updating to 8.1 from the partition D: \ to be re intalliert, if desired.
(4) graphics driver uninstall (only disable is not enough!)
- 1 - first automatic driver installation in Win 8 must be switched off
Press> Wintaste + F and enter the following (without the quotation marks);
"Device Installation" - usually he finds the searched immediately after "Gerätein", under the rubric settings.
>> "Change Device Installations" on click.
>> In the newly opened window proceed as follows:
"No, to install software select themselves"
"Never driver software from Windows Update to install"
and still uncheck "Automatic Device App and information from the device manufacturer to retrieve"
- In short: Identical to find Win 7, only thanks to the better search option quickly.
- 2 - now (in Device Manager) graphics card (s) Search (in which G700 2020m there is only one).
find and uninstall open and all Intel HD (or something similar)
IMPORTANT: Also delete the files! (So the check mark there)
RESTART if necessary
Win8 another driver is then used automatically.
> Device Manager Right-click on the Gafikkarte now again -> Update Driver Software
> Not automatically search
Select> own driver (from a list of ...)
> Win8 then offers two potential drivers, one is something with BASIC or something like that
> Select this
RESTART
(5) now prepare to completely separate yourself from the Internet.
Turning off Wi-Fi on your G700 is not enough, because so reactivated the WLAN when installing Win8.1, so the first restart moment during the installation, all settings are set (from above) back to standard and we want not that Win8.1 the Intel HD driver immediately retrieves: smileylol:
So, when it's easy Lan -> at the appropriate time to pull the plug: smileyhappy:
With WiFi you could, if the time has come, for example, the Fritz box or whatever you have off, or turn off the router WiFi.
(6) Win 8.1
- So, start to store and update.
- When the download is shot, and the installation begins it is time to separate from the Internet.
- So separate Internet!
Connecting to the Internet again until Win 8.1 is ready so far, and you should log in!
by resetting the whole off options from the top you need you do not have a head, because Win8.1 anyway everything is back to standard.
Conclusion:
Useful hardware in a low entry-level notebook. The problem with upgrading to Windows 8.1 (after all, known in December 2013 in Lenovo, but still no solution "factory"), however, is a very big minus. Less experienced users are doing here hopeless.
