Criteria were:
- Size> 22 inch
- Resolution 1920x1200
- 16:10
- DisplayPort input
- USB Hub
- Use for office work
Uninteresting for me were therefore:
- Color fastness, etc. Adjustability
- Webcam / Microphone
- USB 3.0
- Speakers (more on this below)
Of the monitors fulfill these criteria, the DELL is the least expensive and has on top of that the best reviews. Since I was already satisfied with the old Dell 1905, I ordered the U2412M silver in color.
Unpacking and setting up is easy, there is no manual required. The base is simply snapped back, connect the cable to the matching jacks - that's it. The recommended screen resolution is printed on the protective film, even here so you can not go wrong.
Packaging / Delivery:
- How superfast Amazon accustomed Monday night ordered on the way home on the train, found Wednesday after the work at home.
- The packaging is somewhat reminiscent matryoshka dolls, the gigantic carton around the actual DELL package is impressive. The DELL box itself contains everything safely packed and contains surprisingly little plastic, most of it is just made of cardboard.
Connection / Operation:
- There is no DisplayPort cable, but this is indicated in the item description. I have indicated in the product recommendations mini-DP to DisplayPort cable ordered, it was delivered at the same time. On Macbook it is connected to the Thunderbolt connector. Worked right away, the desktop is displayed in the optimum resolution, there are (flickering, blur, etc.pp) perceived no disturbances.
- Visually monitor fits in silver with its restrained design good for Macbook alu look
- The built-in USB hub with 4 ports makes it possible to make the monitor to a small docking station, CD-Rom and ext. Hard drive hanging off here and are quickly connected to a single USB cable to the computer.
-. The factory settings regarding brightness / contrast / color in my opinion are fit, it does not need to be adjusted much. The overall image is very bright and evenly. The grays of the Mac OS GUI to clearly distinguish reproduced photos look very "crisp".
- With a little more than an arm's length distance from the screen size is optimal
- Very positive: I had the old monitor a Dell Soundbar (AS501) that I can continue to use, surprisingly easily at the new monitor. Mechanical connection, power supply from the monitor fits - and after more than nine (9) years!
From my side of the monitor gets a clear recommendation.
