It would have been 5 stars if it were not for a couple of caveats:
- The eyecups are an impertinence for the price range, hard, not ergonomic and especially to limit the field of vision considerably.
- Neck strap and bag, both, are also an insult in the delivery. Cheapest China scrap with a value of certainly under 50Cent. The bag provides virtually no protection, since it is more or less non-upholstered.
- There are no caps on the front openings, but which may be bought. That too is an impertinence.
- The Okkularabdeckungen are also a joke, and they are also not connected to the binoculars and go so quickly lost.
- Image Stabilizer: In principle, the very useful and calms the image works visible. He, however, often described here, the tremor is completely off utter nonsense. The statements made by Canon that there was proven technology as in DSLR cameras, is nonsense. The principle is similar, but the function is substantially worse. I own Canon lenses (L series) with IS and to my camera, the stabilizer in the lens works considerably better than in the binoculars. Two points that ruin your day with stabilizer something: When the stabilizer continuously changing the focal plane. Once an object is placed sharply always slightly out of focus, then focus again etc. Without stability does not happen. The second point is that moves the image. Ie to set up the binoculars on an object and considers it quite accurately aligned and the image shifts constantly, which is because of the stability of a lens moves to compensate for camera shake. My guess is that there are dealing with very old stabilization technique, the anti-roll bars in newer Canon lenses are considerably more powerful.
So all in all the stabilizer is quite usable and increases the viewing pleasure, but the wow effect often said I can not confirm and mounted on a good tripod but the performance is much better. Depend on you do not have to carry a tripod 1kg weight, which nevertheless considerably in the arms going in the usual binoculars attitude, at least if one does not lie on your back or can rest your elbows.
Schade, the Canon has not given a bit more effort. Especially with bag and protective measures that would have been easily possible without great effort.
