Red Rising: Book I of The Red Rising Trilogy (Paperback)

Customer Review

The book to assess here is simple, but to write a comprehensible review without spoilers not quite.

You can probably compare the Red Rising well with other books, but something always remains on the track. The setting is science fiction, but is in this first book of the trilogy long time little sophisticated technology before. Personally, I liked that, it makes the story more believable.
What I now do not like so much, is the comparison with the Hunger Games (The Hunger Games) because I find that Red Rising ... is more simple. Darrow, the main character is placed in a certain way to be, however, he learns of his friends also gained support. What really impressed me is how realistic these interpersonal relationships and the strategies are presented within the competition. The whole thing is very consistent, almost sophisticated.

The general pace of the book is relatively quick and straightforward enough, which I also like very much. You can learn the characters and their interests and motivations know, and they all have an authentic, not as a role, but as a human being. The plot is described really exciting, and takes the right time and a little break, only to then be more engaging.

Red Rising has just STYLE! Everything fits together here, making the book an experience. I have read it twice now (!), Within a short time. Even after we know the outcome, I noticed no logical error, and the book loses none of its charm.
Would it be fantasy, I would say it has a good touch "Grimdark".

All in all, 5 stars, I'm looking forward to the sequel! Great job, Pierce Brown!
