assets:
- Quality of the sensor and the lens (ie color rendition and excellent sharpness FOR a compact, limited amount ie ISO noise almost as good as my lx3 in ISO 100, better than my lx3 in 1600 iso.)
- Manual exposure mode ease thanks to the two dials: one for opening the other for speed, almost simultaneously
- The objective is emboitant in two levels in itself, it is relatively quick to open and close
- The HDR mode allows 3 shots in quick burst, exposed normal, under and on ex. Then the unit thought for a moment and takes the best of each view to redial a picture less contrast globally but rich in details (reserved for static subjects)
- You can set a crop before exposure lock button, in this case the shutter half way stores independently developing sharpness before cropping
- Good horizontality or verticality of the guide device
- Limited weight of the charger
qualities with minimal imperfections:
- The choice of contrast attenuation being very detailed, time is lost to adjust this if you want to use it. overall it's a nice feature that recovers situations mi mi sun shadows.
- The panorama mode assembles a succession of shots. it compensates for the lack of wide angle. However, blur moved quickly arrived since we must move the device during this burst shooting
- Integrated manual to the device: a doubt about a function, press the? and it explains. However, the explanation is sketchy
- The battery (at least new) held a day of picture when hiking (without flash). barely better than my Lumix LX3 but worse than my lumix fz 150 and much less my canon EOS 550
- Automatic cap (more convenient than lumix lx3) but very fragile (less than a true solid cap)
limits:
- 6400 asas is the limit. (Do not dream too much advertising on a night mode of 25600. This only affects static pictures with foot (so little interest))
- The automatic exposure light is just right (I'm almost all the time in manual mode to not be under-ex or ex-) BUT this is true of many compact Lumix LX3 besides my who always had the very accurate automatic exposure.
- Better to have a steady hand as rely on the stabilizer (which is true for almost all compact, though)
- Neither viewfinder nor valve (I mean valve: adjustable screen)
- No existing or possible sun visor (except hand ...) (but this is true of most compacts)
- No neck strap supplied (just a tie wrist)
defects:
- Manual focus: no distance scale, it is not known if one is to infinity sharpness or 50 cm to the eye and c is difficult to see this screen IT IS VERY VERY BAD FOR MANUAL FOCUS
- Intensifying the color (optional) supposedly help manual focus indicates anything and everything
- Switching to manual focus through a menu (so it's a disadvantage compared to Lumix cameras) and contradicts the parameters that had been assigned to the adjustable ring. which leads to the next point:
- The ring is adjustable, yes, but about 12 are crippling many options for a setting that made sense in such P, is found ineffective in the other modes (A, S, M) and vice versa. in reality, it DOES NOT COMPENSATED setting without enough buttons and dials. considering the price of the camera, a dedicated button manual focus and one at expo correction were welcome.
- The lack of rear flap results in increased vulnerability of the screen
