First I let the firmware to the latest version update, which in about 5 min. was done.
Bluray:
The picture is sharp, no Microruckler or artifacts in the tested discs in 1080p.
The load times are a dream compared to the old Samsung.
Also in 3D can not be faulted.
DVD I have not tested, I use hardly.
Audio CD:
I have the player once connected with HDMI to the AV receiver (for video) and also with the SPDIF (coaxial) audio CD. So I can on the AV Receiver 2 different input sources (and thus separate Audio Settings) use for video and audio-only CD operation (Stereo).
It was important to me that the new players also have an additional SPDIF output (optical or coax) has. That's when the new players are no longer taken for granted.
The audio CD quality is also excellent.
Even old disks from the 80 plays the part from a liveliness that sounded in the old Samsung Player nowhere near as good.
In well-received current audio CDs I can find no big difference to Samsung.
The only drawback:
There will not be time to track number in the display of the device, only the playing time of the track.
If you listen to audio CDs and the TV is off, it would have been helpful.
In OSD course everything will be time, but who can already run the TV while listening to CD ....
Network, and DLNA apps:
I do not really matter in the device, but I use a Linux satellite receiver with Enigma2 who can do everything ...
But I tested course times:
The box plays without objection from any audio and video formats (7.2.7 as a DLNA server without transcoding Twonky) so laying around on my NAS. Even 1080p with 3 DTS HD tracks are no problem.
The coils in video works for me in all formats, but that is the Twonky Server.
But here you can go on the Info button in a menu and directly start a time within the video. This is very practical and is much faster.
From the pre-installed apps, I have tried a few times.
Everything as far as works, but it takes a while to build up the sides.
At my Internet connection (100 Mbit) that is not safe .....
Remote Control:
The FB is a bit small and fiddly, but served its purpose.
One can even the on / off, source selection and volume programming function of the TV on the FB when the TV is manufacturer support, but these are just a few. On my Samsung plasma it worked right away.
The Remote Android App of LG I have also tried, is nothing special but also works perfectly.
Conclusion:
For a fair price you get a top-equipped players in an excellent picture and sound quality.
Only SACD compatibility and analog outputs will miss some here, but you can expect for this price either.
WLAN you can get for about 20 extra charge for the otherwise identical device LG BP640
