My main selection criterion was the silence: I am very picky about this, the Caviar Green was very correct from this point of view, but I thought that was a little too much scratching of the read heads. I am faithful to the past few years WD products, I have not had any bad surprises.
Everything related to the performance and consumption did not come into play: it is for storage, not for the video editing ....
Balance sheet after a week: it's perfect.
Installation and simple setup in my Qnap NAS TS119, whose characteristic is not to have fan (I told you I was picky about the silence ...).
In use: means a light breath due to disk rotated (inevitable), but what is impressive is that I can not hear very little reading heads during disk access.
Before writing this review I approached my ear within 20cms of the NAS, all by launching a video playback. Result: no scratching sound. Only the light breeze ... On a copy e of about 200 small files, always at ear to 20cms, I heard the scratching of heads .. A more than a meter away I hear nothing .
All purposes, this must be my 20th hard drive, this is by far the quietest.
In short I recommend to people demanding noise!
