After the last, certainly not bad album 'Train of Thought' I had, the new album on, especially one wish: More Jordan Rudess! Because this exception keyboardist came with Train of Thought a bit too short, also my keyboard sounds liked not always. This has changed thoroughly with Octavarium. John Petrucci adheres favor Jordan Rudess something back, result is partly due to 'Metropolis II, Scenes From A Memory' reminiscent bombastic sound. The CD is extremely varied advised (critics claim that the CD as monotonous, they have probably not heard). In addition to two ballads (The Answer lies within and I walk beside you), rather count myself among the weaknesses, there are mid-tempo numbers (sacrified Sons whose instrumental part could zufinden be on one of the LTE CDs and These Walls) and titles that are reminiscent of Train of Thought (especially The root of all evil). Gefrickelt Gorgeous is also, however, never exaggerated. Absolutely outrageous but is the 24-minute title track. The first four minutes of Pink Floyd could come (beginning of 'Shine on ...'), followed by a little getting used to (listen several times, then get it to the sometimes something strange melody) part singing with acoustic guitar. What follows from approximately 13 minutes, is just about the best thing I've ever heard: Bombastic prog metal with wrong instrumental interludes in Qualiät Metropolis Pt 1 and Dance of Eternity. Emphasize also the cover, which could be also found on a Pink Floyd CD. The same applies to the booklet.
