HTC One V brings one of the few mobile phones currently on the market as standard an Android Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0.3) with.
Was installed on this machine a single-core processor with 1 GHz and 512 MB RAM.
Integrated is a 5 MB camera on the back, a front camera is missing.
SAR is the manufacturer 0.872 W / kg,
Why I decided to buy this device:
I just wanted a cell phone have which is not a block, because I in my pocket carry everything with me and this space is limited :-). Therefore, I have for a smartphone with a display
Overall impression:
The system runs smoothly. It can be observed no dropouts. Of course, one second requires the smartphone at one or another action longer than devices which have built a stronger CPU and / or more RAM, but it's really just one second. I do not feel it, however disturbing. It is always smooth working possible.
The build quality of the phone is very good.
Telephony:
There is nothing to complain about. The interlocutor is clearly understood. Also vice versa.
The reception quality is convincing. In my testing with another mobile phone (Nokia), there were no significant differences in network strength. Even with us here in rural northern Germany, the display shows full reception.
Screen:
The screen can be read clearly. I find him very sharply. It has a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels.
Camera:
I think here we have the (small) caught weakness. In artificial light the results are unconvincing. The lighter it is the better the images. The images are always slightly out of focus in artificial light. Too Bad. Especially because the developers have really given a lot of trouble with the software.
These settings are the camera software:
Effect filters (distortion, vignette, depth of field, points, Mono, Landscape, Classical, Classic Warm, classic cooling, Grayscale, Sepia, Negative, Solarize, polarization, Aqua)
Self-timer
Exposure compensation
Contrast
Saturation
Sharpness
White Balance
ISO
Resolution
Continuous Shooting
Face Detection
Smile
Widescreen
Geotagging
Display lines
But I test nor in the quality of images on, perhaps there is a trick to improve the quality. I've uploaded times 2 test patterns.
Video:
there is no video camera. Suitable for the quick snapshot. But here one should not expect a masterpiece things.
mp3 and sound reproduction:
Excellent. Full marks. A whistle or other noise as described elsewhere, I could not tell.
The sound convinced.
Expandability:
the One V is the only one of the series that can be extended by a maximum 32GB microSD card. This is a big plus, which speaks for the One V.
Compatibility with Linux:
both memory areas (I have a 32GB SD card) are recognized as an external hard drive, so this MTP nonsense of Android 3.x hopefully a thing of the past.
Support:
is positive by HTC, the updates are available here quite frequently. So I have now updated to firmware version 1.56.401.2. Other vendors did not respond but very sluggish to.
The HTC One V is a rock-solid smartphone, due to the weak camera, I subtract a star. The 4 remaining stars are but fully justified.
[Update, after a week]
the camera is better than on my first quick test evening at the hotel. In artificial light it seems it has its difficulties. In the light, outside but it gives good results. The video camera, however, very convincing. But you have to change the recording properties of wide-screen (800x480) to HD (1280x720). Then you get delivered good videos. For this reason, I give the only asterisk drawn back.
The kink in the housing may be aesthetically questionable. But he is incredibly practical. Through him we can grow the smartphone well in all situations.
