Guilty or Innocent?

Monster (Paperback)

Customer Review

The Book "monster" by Walter Dean Myers is about a boy called Steve Harmon who is 16 years old. this boy is on trial for being involved in a four-person household up of a drugstore. nobody ever expected did steve Could be the look-out at the drugstore robbery Because everybody Considered him to be a nice guy coming from a honest family. The trial takes place in New York. the factthat Steve is a memeber of the film club at school is the reason why Steve writes down his own court proceedings like a movie, complete with close ups, reaction shots and voiceovers. this movie script helps to feel like Steve and to understand his difficult situation describable. Between the screenplay parts steve writes a kind of diary where the reader gets to know some things about Steve's life befor the murder and his feelings about being held in prison during the trial.
i think this book what not that bad but sometimes I got the problem of not knowing who is speaking Because The screenplay writing is as easy to read as you forget to read with attention and with looking at the names of the actors.
Another thing what did i didnt find any aim in this book. Perhaps it is nice to read for someone who wants to know what's going on on trial and what the different tasks of the persons on trial are. if you start to read this book you expect a story with lots of tension then it's the wrong one.
for me the most interesting parts were the diary entries Because there you get to know more background information and You Are Not Able to read over the person who is talking at the moment Because You Can Be Sure That Steve is telling the story.
