First Steps:
Once you have the battery and the SD card is inserted and charged the battery, you can practically start immediately. One has to adjust only the time and date. The main functions are recognizable without much study of the manual. The unit fits comfortably in your hand, the index finger is conveniently close to the zoom, as well as the Photo button to rest the Mode button and the on-off switch and can use this. The menu (in the unfolded screen) can could be referred to on the left by a small button as the "joystick", operate. This works really well and quickly.

Recording capabilities and technical:
- I have equipped the camera with a 4 GB memory card. What I could tell from the display (while recording top right of the image) that I can take an hour in the best possible quality. (The longer I was filming, the more reduced the specification so you do keep an eye on how much time one remains)
- One does not make the large menu at small settings, from the shortcut menu, in which you can access quickly when you press the OK button, you can for example set the scene (Auto, Sports, etc.), activate Face Detection quickly or the exposure value influence.
- The recording can be interrupted or paused. That is, they will not be stopped. That just means you can record several scenes and if you look at the clip on the computer has a coherent video and not, for example, three. This can be an advantage and saves a work different clips only on the computer to put together.
- It is possible with the camera to take pictures, but I must confess I was here not satisfied with the resolution and sharpness, because I take rather my camera. For me that's perfectly fine and no negative point. A camcorder is finally to film there. (Who wants to can also make continuous, photos fast automatic snapshots in succession, reflecting a movement well - in the menu under Cont shot.)

The camcorder has 52X optical zoom. If video resolution is 1280X720 / 25p (HD), 720X576 / 50p ie 16: 9 (SD) or 720X576 / 50p 4: 3 (SD) possible with Photo resolution, there are 1696x954 (16: 9) and 1280x720 (16 : 9).
You can also adjust the white balance menu, the face detection system and anti-shake. What is also handy, you can set the optical zoom, that is, when the digital zoom is not activated, you will not slip without realizing it accidentally into it. (There are a few other settings that I found not so important and to which I will not go into here.)
There are also a few special effects, for all who love to play around a bit and do not want to wait for the video only to later be edited on the computer. You can be black and white, sepia or negative (looks like negative images from sawdust). In Dazzle mode, all colors colorful, in Noir mode the contrast is stronger and everything looks gloomy, the Western mode of film looks old and faded. Basically, only gadgets that you will rarely use in everyday life, but which nevertheless do really fun ;-)
Recording:
As for the colors, I am absolutely convinced that this camcorder from Samsung are really good again. When deep zoom (eg in a Crowd, the unit, however, a second to it takes sharp is.) I was surprised by the tone of which I believed he would be terribly bad for such a small device. Not even close. While you should not expect miracles, but conversations and background noises were atmospheric and mostly naturally over. (This also often blurred image was probably more like me who had problems to keep the machine constantly calm :-) Perhaps a tripod would be useful ')
Little things (which are perhaps more interesting):
- During filming in very bright sunlight, the LCD screen has all played well, I had no problems as sometimes in the camera that you no longer recognize what you photographed, because the screen is completely dark '
- You can display the recorded videos straight on the small LCD screen view (fast forward included or slide show).
- I find the Smart Auto mode where the camera makes even the settings, and in the Anti-Shake (an image stabilizer) is active, really useful.
- The included video software to edit the movies for Windows and is useful to me as a Mac user nothing but did not bother me, because I have other programs on the computer, which perform the same function.
- The camcorder has a sleep mode, if one snaps shut the screen even while the unit is turned on, this sleep mode is active, so that the battery does not discharge so quickly. (If you have not yet filmed further after a long time, the unit will automatically turn off.)
Conclusion:
This camcorder is suitable for all who are not looking for a professional model. For this price, the Samsung F80 has really a lot and good, quality shots. The camcorder is (which I also find very nice) especially small and fits into any handbag. Operation is intuitive, most features are self-explanatory. Strong buy recommendation! :-)
