In direct comparison, however, it quickly became clear that the Galaxy in terms of performance, with the Archos simply can not keep up. Internet in a lot of advertising or Flash or Java often hackelig.
- Archos has much less codec problems. At the Galaxy had to partially download the video first and then open it with NEM Player.
- The 1.5 GHz Archos (Turbo) making among others while surfing in comparison to the Galaxy noticeable (even with waste heat) :-)
-. When you look at video you're much better off with the PowerVR GPU of Archos, as with the now obsolete Geforce ULP the Galaxy Tab The Archos decoded videos much
fine dissolved and the display presents films with all the details is very clear. (comparison Youtube Trailer Battleship in HD) At the Galaxy, the display was indeed in dark scenes be nice
black (almost black), but at the expense of darker details, also fall on vertical, badly decoded lines and general lack of detail / blur.
- The battery life of the Archos is in normal operation, ie Bissel surfing, bissel mails and hourly mail query etc. in pure wireless operation about 48 hours (probably 3000mAh battery). Here
has the Galaxy Tab with its ca 7000mAh powerful battery power, of course, the nose far in front. (Costs for indeed far more) ;-)
- The exterior of the Archos is of course of inexpensive Pastik and nich comparable to the absolutely stable and valued hard plastic / aluminum frame of the Galaxy Tab 10.1. Well it there
special adhesive films :-)
- The display of the Archos is very specular (but beautiful brilliant) (Additional interesting display protection, very hackelig apply) and certainly very sensitive to scratching. The Galaxy has a display
from Gorilla Glass (also very reflective). Has advantages, but also has disadvantages. Although is very resilient, but jumps happy times with shock-like bumps, saying it set no problem falling
leave ... then threw the circumstances. That would put away the slightly flexible display and less Stracke exterior of the Archos certainly better. To the comparison I could not
durchringen ;-)
- In the meantime put the Archos Android version 4.0.7, which often criticized the battery life, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and Geistertapser- has eliminated problems. PS: this Geistertapser are also
occurred here and there with the Galaxy.
Both devices support the WiFi Direct feature to connect with other devices without having to connect a wireless router between. They also give to create a mobile hotspot for other devices (with 3G module) the possibility. Although one would configure well in practice more of a smartphone as a hotspot, instead of the tablet. (Order to save the 3G module for recordable) To this end, should make sure that the mobile network operators the "Thetering function" not blocked or.
The Archos offers an even the possibility of some apps "pretend" a 3G module as well as a rear camera. Works but not always.
- Bissel was stupid when Archos that one should answer the installation of third-party software definitely "YES" during initial startup and after the same Google Account
Create. Otherwise the free bundled software are gone forever and unfortunately can not be made available for licensing reasons - / Unfortunately, this is not mentioned anywhere!
In summary:
Archos has:
- Android 4.0.7
- Dual core 1.5GHz OMAP 4460 in the turbo version (2x 1.2-1.5 GHz variable, overclockable to 1.7 supposedly)
- Current PowerVR 540 GPU
- You can buy more the 3G module, if one actually needs me, and your own phone no tethering can (Archos can)
- The "internal" USB port, which is intended for the 3G stick (about 45), can be used for other purposes for some devices (mouse, etc.)
- The memory expansion slot for Micro-SD is very useful (up to 32GB)
- The mini HDMI port is already sometimes quite handy
- Archos can be controlled remotely via a smartphone Fernsteuerungsapp as Media Center.
- Front camera 720P, ranges necessary for Video Chat
- No specially hardened Display
- Bluetooth 2.1 EDR (last)
- Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Direct
- From the house of 8GB in the turbo version (2x1.5). Attention! Before exactly read in the version which hardware is installed! Otherwise you have suddenly at the 16GB version only the 1GHz dual-core in it!
- Ports situated laterally well as one breaks off nix
- No tactile feedback (haptics)
Samsung has:
- Android 3.2, questionable whether 4.0.x comes for the extra German Tab10.1 "N" version.
- Older dual-core 1.0GHz Tegra 2 (2 x 1 GHz)
- Older Geforce ULP GPU
- Ordered with or without 3G module; can not be retrofitted
- No USB Expansion Slot
- No slot for memory upgrades
- No HDMI output
- No (known to me) remote control option such as Media Center
- Good front camera + back camera 3.1 MP
- Gorilla Glass display
- Bluetooth 3.0 (nonsense)
- Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Direct
- From 8 GB
- As aftermarket accessories comic combi adapter (adapter, then with HDMI and USB) bottom of the tablet so that the expensive Craddle will buy, the connection leiert by the mere adapter (without Craddle) safe here quickly
- Tactile feedback (haptics)
Conclusion:
If you want a very stylish and technically advanced material tablet, only to retrieve mail and read news, should pick up the (very expensive) Galaxy Tab on which you then can change but nothing more.
Those looking for a hardware technology updates tablet that has to serve as a desktop replacement, data exchange (SD slot), multimedia, video and a few simple games, and the active Internet browsing with Flash and Java and advertising that comes price / Leistungstechnisch Archos is not over! I was convinced the Archos after a short time. And then at the price. I'm at least excited is even if it's from unsightly plastic (yet) :) PS: Samsung now installed just the hardware in the tablet 2, the Archos has long been there. However, Samsung has only the 1.0 dual core again and save the good, rear camera. :-P
