Now to my actual review:
Pro's:
Appearance: The Hauppauge HD PVR Gaming Edition is very visually appealing. It is relatively easy, however, is a processing by no means cheap before. The green border on the top signaled good if a recording is in progress and in addition looks stylish from.
Port: The port of PVR's takes about 5 minutes and is using the Quick Start Guide that comes with the PVR or with the aid of numerous tutorials on the internet very easily. The cables have a solid, well made.
Software: The software for the PVR you can quickly install the enclosed CD. The installation itself takes about 5-10 minutes and then you can start right away. You have the power before installation however before connecting. The software itself like it quite well, but I really only use it to record, one could, however, still create videos with it, but that is more like the Windows Movie Maker equal.
Quality: The quality of the recordings I find extremely well. The PVR records up to 1080i (not 1080p) in real time, that is what you see on the PS3, very ye. Directly on your screen and take it at the same time to You can choose between several formats, which I prefer MP4. However, I would recommend that you look at when you want to record a lot, an external hard drive At length, as a 15 minute video before occupies about 1 GB with me.
Note: If you should after connecting your PVR have a slightly greenish image, not desperate. Then you have only the cable that leads to the TV, inserted the wrong way round. If you change this, the image will be clear and normal.
Cons:
Cable: The pity is that the PVR can not record in 1080p and therefore included no HDMI cable. Ie you can, if you record, play with the PS3 no longer in full HD, but I can tell the difference between 1080i to 1080p almost not real.
Is also a pity that the USB cable is quite short, that your PC must be pretty close to your console, because it is not possible otherwise, because USB cable loose here at 2 meters in length already extremely to data transmission.
Software: I wanted the videos originally pull on my Macbook Pro, however, is the PVR software at no. Anyone who has a only a Mac, the software can HDPVRCapture specially set for about 30 more.
I find such a software there should be also already in the price.
All in all, however, I am extremely satisfied with the Hauppauge HD PVR Gaming Edition in. The quality can not be better and also the construction and installation are quick and easy. Despite the small drawbacks of PVR of me gets 5 stars, but I hope that the software for the Mac is in the next models included.
I can tell you so definitely recommend, you zuzulegen this PVR, if you wanted a high-quality capture card.
Best Regards
