The external hard drive works flawlessly. The version of encryption software to install, WD Security for Windows (free), available on the supplied hard disk seemed to work well, BUT detected the first update that was proposed to me (WD Security for Windows Application Release Version 1.1.0.51) involved a malware detected by Spybot Search & Destroy but could not eradicate, namely MainPean dialer (as indicated in connection with the WD Security.lnk file on the desktop, including the deletion did not solve the problem). Result: unintentional chronic message "An unexpected error occurred and Windows Live Messenger should be closed Your most recent changes may be lost.." WLM apparently remains operational but validating the WLM message closes. Poorly documented problem. After clearing the .lnk the malware has not been detected by Spybot and then undetectable by Kaspersky or Malwarebyte's Anti-malware, although the symptom was still present. So I had to reinstall an image to rebuild my system. I uninstalled WD Security course, having no confidence in the encryption software for the integrity of my data.
