I purchased this external hard drive because it was on sale, at a price equal to 500 GB drives. However, my PC does not have USB 3.0 and I feared a little port will not be able to plug into a USB 2.0 port In reality, it is very clearly stated on the box that the drive is USB 3.0 but is backward compatible with USB 2.0 and it runs on Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7. I am personally in Windows XP. The disc comes with a small USB cord 3 with micro-B connector of a standard-A side and the other. I've had no trouble putting the disk in use. It was immediately recognized as a "Mass Storage Device". The disc contains the source files with a few multilingual manual (which is almost not needed and that there is plug it to work). After over an hour of connection, the disk remains as cold as before the connection. I can not judge the long-term quality, but for the short term I honestly recommend this product.
