The USB port is not recognized all the hard disks, which probably was because they draw too much current. I opened a support case at Kingston and got the following day a very nice phone call from Kingston. The support staff informed me that some disks draw too much current. He recommended that I generally drives without power supply does not connect to the router. The risk of data loss is too great since it can not be guaranteed that the power to the router for boards without power supply is insufficient. I tested the router with a 2.5 "panel with Y-connector (at one end, a USB power adapter) and a 3.5" drive, both in running and could be used. The copying photos between SD card and USB drive worked. Even the look of the images from disk or SD card in the browser of the mobile device works.
Then I underwent the router a speed test, because I was planning to use the router on holiday to copy images from SD card to USB disk.
The test set-up was as follows:
- IPad, iOS 7.1.2
- SD card from Sandisk 16GB, 30MB / s
- Transtec Store Jet USB disk 1TB
- Router and USB drive were supplied during the test setup with a USB power adapter (the drive via Y-connector) with its own power source.
- Data transmission from Nikon RAW images (approximately 19MB per file) from an SD card to the plate with FTP Client Pro 2.1.9 V.
After an hour about 3,6GB data from SD card are stored on USB drive. I've been using 8GB cards and 16GB cards, and since the speed me is far too slow and not acceptable for me.
Summary:
+ Easy installation and operation
+ Very good as a memory expansion for mobile devices
+ Very well usable as a surf station for multiple devices to the mobile network via Surfstick
+ Good workmanship
+ Fast and personal support
- As a mobile photo storage too slow
