Now I had a bigger job and because me the new device in the lurch: went Print a page, multiple pages, however, led to a massive displacement in the direction so that only 3/4 of the side length were printed. I then prescribed manner and without major violence the duplexer and the tray removed, tested for function and reinstated ....
Now it produces only paper jams.
I'm curious what the Support says .. the weekend not reach the yes. I am slightly sour.
Old Rating:
I've been a good 3 days the proud owner of this printer and would like to complement the still quite rare articles.
SITUATION
I am a student and has quite a lot of printing. At the beginning of my studies I had therefore a HP Officejet J5785 added myself. This was an AiO with ADF and also quite fast, but with feeding problems and poor quality at high-speed printing. Therefore, I keep me last November a used laser with duplex function. This was faster, more comfortable (duplex) and quieter than the HP, but was unable to scan even copying, stank and fabricated continuously jams. So I went to look for a printer with the following requirements: duplex printing, duplex ADF, indelible prints, copies, and faxes, high-speed, laser print quality. After much back and forth between laser and inkjet I ordered the still new HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus because of positven reviews in English-speaking countries as well as the testing of its predecessor.
Delivery and packaging
Thanks Prime membership appointed in the evening at 1730 and 0730 the next morning at the door for 5 seconds.
Delivery in original box - so far everything fine.
GETTING STARTED
As I sat down in advance intensively with the printer apart, I had printed after only 15 minutes, the first test page, everything installed and configured according to my needs. A getting started guide is so you, quickly gets along on the display of the printer along with the instructions. However, many names are not exact, so you have to look for something (Ex .: Guide to finding your firmware version: according to HP to find website under "Printer activities" of software - in fact is the point with me but "Printer preferences"). So sometimes you have to search and try.
SOFTWARE
Apart from one or the other fails translated point, the software / driver is clearly, perhaps even a little too clearly. So there are few settings and the actual configurations (adjustment of color mixing with grays, resolution, ...) can be found only in the advanced printer settings. Here they are confusing listed in bullet points so that you have to look even more closely. As for the settings for fax and scan, as well as other gimmicks an Office printer, in addition to the software are also a web interface as well as the printer itself available. Here the Konfigurationsmöglicheiten are clearly arranged and befitting diverse.
Acoustics, look and feel
The printer is a real whopper. Through the round corners and the slightly curved ADF he is very wide - not to say fat. Printer usual plastic can be found everywhere, but which seems very stable.
The foldable touch display is quickly covered with fingerprints and reacts fairly sluggishly to inputs. But if you have even out the touch, it can be quite good bedienen.Aber the Slidefunkion through the menus you could have saved.
The paper tray can be found, filling and re-insert easily. What I miss is a level indicator, as is common in laser printers.
Very good solved the Zugeriff is on the cartridge or the printhead. The access door can be opened well and close, and the interior is illuminated by an LED (which I find really great).
Squeaks and creaks in the operation nothing, except what is to creak, ergo to keep the volume within reasonable limits.
FAX, COPY and SCAN
Everything that has to do with the scan unit works perfectly, is really spacious, is very comfortable thanks to D-ADF, with high resolution and thanks to numerous features such as Scan-to-Email, etc. a great relief when exchanging lecture notes before examination period :)
PRINTING
Up to this point the printer is still at the level of many competing products from different manufacturers. According to HP, it is a high speed of up to 20ppm in laser quality (setting: normal quality) Print. That's significantly more than most other printers in this price range. The reality shows that this is true (it had just measured with a stopwatch): 22 pages with key points, without graphics, with colored headings and grays in 67 seconds. In crisp Quality. All the HP cartridges also indelible, waterproof and resistant to simple highlighter strokes.
BUT (see Edits): As soon as text, graphics or table strokes across the width of the print head (about 4cm) go, the synchronization between feeding and carriage movement does not fit. So it comes to offset what it look wrong tables and text and graphics uneven. The offset is small (max 1/10 mm), but clearly visible in graphs and tables. For optimal quality setting, the problem does not exist. Above text pages contained only text and formulas and have no discernible shift on. The other typeface sees itself in the design (approximately 32ppm) very good.
I hope yes, a firmware upgrade that improves the synchronization, but I will sit down to security again with the support of HP in connection.
The Duplex function is working and has the usual for inkjets drying phase between on the page change. Is beautiful here, this is the time-dependent quality (design: for about 2 seconds, normal 5-10 seconds, optimally: about 10 seconds).
SUMMARY
+ Very high level of all components
+ Good software implementation
+ Good wireless module
+ High speed scanning / copying
+ High Druckqualtität at high speeds
- Bulky housing
(- Offset by synchronization errors in continuous elements are larger than 4cm are) see Edits
- Inconsistent translation of the software and manuals
- Touch display needs getting used to
I hope I could help.
EDIT:
I can solve the problem with the white lines / the offset. Apparently not distort the printhead, but the Papierzugrollen. A tight fit of the paper guide in the paper tray fixes the problem largely. However, it scans with me now wrong .... I'll keep you posted.
EDIT 2:
Meanwhile belong to all problems of the past. The printer seems merely to be pretty picky with the paper: not any variety is easily transported. hence came the crooked scans and probably the offset.
EDIT 3:
I had the HP reported all my little problems and customer service after a short feedback to me a replacement unit was offered. Although the printer produces a careful paper selection and careful insertion into the allocations almost perfect Ausrucke (the displacement occurs only when the paper tray is nearly empty), HP has the ambition with this printer to dominate the market ... and that seemingly at any cost ... for the benefit of customers.
Edit 14/03/2012:
The exchange unit has been exposed today and none of the errors described above was found. The ADF is now attracting each paper easily and even with the fastest draft-pressure occurs no offset.
